Oil level ??? how high is it ?

hi,

Im busy building my turbo setup. Now im at the point of making the oil return line. Im not worried about welding it etc...but how high does the oil come inside of the oil pan ? what is the max oil level ? I need to stay above it but how low can i go ?

Why im asking this..simple, my oil outlet is pretty low as you can see in the following picture...I i mount it to high it won't be flowing down.

The oil pan does have a metal plate inside...is this about the same as the oil level or does the oil also raise above it ? (i'm using a 2nd oil pan ofcourse.

Thanks

Oil line...is this a no go ? or will it be fine ?

hi,

As im mounting my oil lines i found that they are a bit to long. Can I just lay it like this ?? Or is this a NO-GO. I guess it will be fine but i need a 2nd opinion. Reason that i can't let it go the other way of the turbo and use its lenght is that it will hit my manifold adapter.

Re: Oil level ??? how high is it ?

When full, the oil level doesn't go above that sheet of metal inside the oil pan. I'm not sure exactly how high it gets, but the general rule is to tap it as high as possible while still having a downward slope in your return line. The fitting in my oil pan (HF/adapter plate) goes directly into the sheet of metal and I had to cut a bit of it out.

Your oil feed line will be fine if secured properly. Just ensure it doesn't make contact with any hoses, wires, etc. because it could saw through them in time.
