oil drain question

Default oil drain question

i can't get the ------- exhuast housing on my turbo to budge meaning my drain flange is not at the very bottom....its it absouletly necessary for it to be bottom or can it be horizontal?

I think 30 degrees is the number I've heard most often. 30 degrees either way of completely down.

thats what i figured..any suggestions on how to get a stubborn exhaust housing to move? i don't wanna hit the ---- too much and crack it..needs to be rotated though cuz drain is pointing the same way as the exhaust flange

yeah rubber mallet is what I used.Make sure you break all the blts loose. I think It is best if it's straight down because of it being gravity drained.

yea..or i could always just plan on attempting an upright equal length mani like shitbird had on a post recently

rubber mallet? no way dude. you need a steel hammer and some wd 40 and beat the crap out of it in every spot around the housing to get it to come off. it'll come off.

thats what i did, i used a sledge hammer. it aint hot, i doubt it'll crack.

i think i'll try the rubber first..then go to a 3 pound maul..i hope the rubber works cuz i'm not really excited to beat a turbo with a maul..
