70Challenger - He has just told me what is going on ... I really haven't gotten to look at it myself yet. That will probably happen tomorrow when he will supposedly have a oil pressure gauge and a needle valve. Also, he changed the oil yesterday ... wondering if he overfilled it or not ...

As far as I know the only mods he has made to his car are : turbo, manifold and FMU. :X I've been barking at him to ditch his FMU and install the 450 DSMs he's got along with a stand-alone computer that he bought. I haven't looked at these yet so I have no idea what computer system it is or anything like that.

As far as the crankcase ventilation system .... I don't know, I haven't looked at all. I'm pretty sure that is all still stock, though i did see the mini-cone breather filters on his valve cover. My knowledge of PCV systems and how they interact with a turbo setup is pretty much non excistant - it's one of the things I'm trying to learn from this site right now. I know there's a sticky on it, I just haven't had time to read it all yet.

NCHATCH- I've been told gasolene or carb cleaner work well for cleaning out intercoolers ... is that right ?

P.S. Is there any way to tell if the oil return isn't working correctly ? I mean, its just a piece of (7/8 in this case, I think) hose that lets the oil run into the pan with almost no drop. I was thinking ... could a setup like this work ?

Ok, the blue lines are where its at right now. The red lines are my thoughts on this subject. Couldn't you add in a small catch can under the turbo with a line connecting to the oil pan that way you are CERTAIN to have good drain away from the turbo to stave off problems ? It would be like a secondary pan. I mean, the catch can would never get full, the line running between the oil pan and the catch can would equalize the oil levels in them, you just have to make sure that the top of the catch can is higher than the oil level otherwise ... problems. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this solve ALOT of problems ?

no, because you oil return from the catch can is below your oil line on the pan. so it wouldn't go anywhere. i would suggest a new manifold or some way of bringing the turbo up higher so the return has a little more gravity. just my .02

Senior Hole: I fail to see what wouldn't work with the setup I pictured. The line connection the catch can to the oil pan would allow the oil levels to equalize between the oil pan and the catch can, and the oil pump would draw from the pan and the suction from the pump would draw from the catch can. Because of gravity, the oil in the catch can would not rise about the oil in the pan. If the catch can were mounted high enough, it would never fill. I think this I'm gonna build me one of these.
