if you put pure oxygen into your engine it would misfire and blow the ---- up!!!! My firend did that with one of those ATV 4 wheelie things for fun. He was then taken to the hospital to get 68 stiches on his right leg. But if you want to try it then be my guest.

Sorry but your wrong but your on the right track...they use nitrogen not nitrous oxide. Nitrogen setups are much better than Co2 but that doesnt mean that co2 is for newbies. Nitrogen is just more consistant and works much better in the winter unlike Co2...

The thing with pure oxygen is..you will have to inject really small amounts of it and have a lot of fuel dumped in or you are going to run lean.
And the thing is the oxygen will react to metal really fast when there is high temperature...so it will react to your aluminum intake manifold before it gets to the combustion chamber plus it will ignite the fuel to early if your engine is gonna be at running temperature

PURE OXYGEN IS EXTREMELY VOLATILE
the reason people use nitrous (n2o) is because the nitrogen calms things down a bit and keeps everything under control, the nitrogen is innert.
if you put pure oxygen into your combustion chamber mixed with fuel you wont know when it will explode and when it does explode it will be very violent.

no dude thats compressed air or nitrogen for the expensive guns not nitrous .. i have a compressed air tank for my gun.

n20 is less of an oxidizer than pure oxygen. you could do it but you would have to dump mad fuel in there or you will lean out and grenade.

nitrous and oxygen are not flammible they are oxidizers they just make other things burn much faster. oxygen would actually work better than nitrous if you could keep it from leaning out and exploding

the nice guns use compressed air, last time i checked, i didnt fill up on nitrous oxide

oh well i was wrong but i knew my brother used some tank starting with an N.. Oh and your right there are good guns that run co2 but if i remeber correctly most of the tournament gus use the N stuff Nitrogen or whatever.

There are a few reasons why pure oxygen isn't used:

1) It is too damn expensive

2) In the case of an accident, (your car starting on fire) the oxygen tank would surely ensure you (and anyone trying to put the fire out) certain death due to it's ability to feed the fire and increase the burning temperature to insane levels (oxy-acetalyne torch.. cutting torch!)

3) It would need to be injected much more precisely with much more danger to your motor in case of a short fuel supply.

4) The N in NO2 (nitrogen) acts as a burn stabalizer- It helps to control the rate at which the burn occurs, the temperature, and prevent detonation.

These 4 reasons are THE reasons why you don't inject pure oxygen into your motor. If someone actually took the time to do the calculations and come up with an oxygen injection system- Rest assured; It would work- But it just isn't practical-- Due to all of the above.
IMO, stick with turbos anyways. It's like a FREE whatever shot of nitrous (no bottles to fill) whenever you want it. ;D

...Now you know- And knowing is HALF the battle!
