NOT BOOSTING!!!

I have a 93 civic hatch si with a d16z6, I just installed a greddy 15g turbo internally waste gated. When I rev it up or drive it around the turbo dosnt spool up no does the bov make any noise. I know this turbo is super loud and the bov i have is loud as hell also ( greddy type s 0, But I dont know what the hell is going on. I need some major help.

check all your chargepipes. It can be a leak!

Check your wastegate

what size down pipe/exhaust are you using? do you have your stock cat in?

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

Im using 2.25in mandrel bends for charge pipe and i have a greddy down pipe. i will try checking for leaks, but where should i check? I also would like to know how to adjust the waste gate so it pushes more boost out, maybe its set to low.

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

If the actuator is working properly then you will see at least 6 to 7 pounds of boost. most come stock actuated at 8 to 10 pounds. check for leaks using soap and water. again all of this is covered in the other post so I am not going to waste my time writting it all over again as my chemisty lab starts in 17 minutes.

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

stock psi on a greddy turbo should be at 5.5 or 6psi. check for leaks in the piping and check the wastegate to see if its hooked up correclty and/or if the arm hasnt fallen off or something...

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

is your battery good? mine didnt boost when i had a dead battery. also it usually has to be under a load to get boost. i can only get 3psi when i floor it in neutral. but i hit 10psi when im driving. take anything you have on the compressor inlet off and see if that helps.

also do you have a boost gauge installed? what is it doing?

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

spin the turbine by hand it should spin freely, also, when u start the car the turbine should be spinning freely. stop it with your hand (at idle), and it should start spinning again when u let go.

if that doesnt happen, the turbine might be rubbing against the back housing. (happened to me)

how was the dead battery causing you to not boost? (was it because your car wouldn't start? lol)

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

i have no idea.....but i put a new alternator and battery on there and it went from 0 to 10psi. i'm still confused myself as to what the alternator and battery had to do with it.

Re:NOT BOOSTING!!!

i would say keep fingers well out of the way of the turbine when the cars is running regardless of rpm ,leave the engine switched off and rotate it by hand, there should be little resistance on it. Have you had the turbo rebuilt or rebuilt it yourself by any chance?
