ON the topic of what was said about the valves hitting the piston it was not caused by stretching and not heat
this is called floating the valves and is what happens when the rpms get to high for the compenents in the valvetrain to remain touching the camshaft and when this happens the valve smacks into the piston which can sound quite nasty
and it does not have to cause a total engine malfunction but you can be sure it is fucked up
if you crack your piston from it or snap your valve though it will cause instant lockup

this write up helped me out. for sure I looked mainly to reinforce the knowledge of turbos I already had. But I do have one question. I am looking into building a turbo kit myself, obviously, but I wanna know where I can find a stage 3 t28 turbo. Like which car did it come off of. I wasn't aware there were 3 stages of the t28. Also can I get a boost controller for a turbo with an internal wastegate? or would I need to buy an external wastegate?

Stages don't mean ----, they are just marketing technique to get you to buy a range of items that are proven to work with eachother, i.e. better manifold, bigger turbo, injectors, etc.

It's just ---- that is for a "higher" power level. If you look at specifications for what your buying, and compressor maps you can figure out what you need for your given power level. You'd want to figure out the CFM for the power level you want.

Just google T28 and see what cars it came on. Google is your friend, it doesn't complain or flame you when you ask n00b questions.

Would that be the GT garrett series?

I was speaking of the stage 3 T28 he listed in this write up. I just wanna know where to find one. by the way google is my friend but google also comes with a lot of b.s. sites you can dig through before you find what you need. Asking a question on a forum where a bunch of people who have done what you are trying to do 100's of times before seems like a better solution to me. pardon my snappiness. I don't like being treated like a noob. I know quite a bit about cars, but so far my rides have all been n/a. this is my first venture into home making a respectable turbo kit. Last kit I messed with was a t3/t4 kit that went on a crv-vtec in a 95 hatchback.

It's probably the AirReasearch Volvo T28 if it's a stocker

or the GT baller bearing. You can find a lot of different turbos that will work for your set up. It's been done since the dawn of time, use the HMT search if you want specifically related answers.
