it doesn't make sense to do a rebuild yourself. too much stuff can go wrong, then your out the cost of the turbo and rebuild kit. have it done professionally is your best bet.

It's not that hard to rebuild a turbo. Just make sure you mark the shaft well when you disassemble it. All it consists of is 2 bearings some snap rings and a thrust washer.

i agree, but it is hard to do it right. do you have the machines that balance the rotating assembly and check the shaft for straightness? sure you can rebuild one on your own, but unless you are on a serious budget, get the extra money and get it done right so it will last.

Even when you line it up, its not the same. I would just send it out and get it rebuild.

The compressor wheel is balanced ITSELF apart from the shaft/ex wheel assembly... THEREFORE... Its myth that you need to line up ----. However that being said, im weird and pshycologically id feel better if i marked it too.... But I wouldnt even trip on it. There is NO need to have to re balance the shaft assy... Unless the shaft is so bad, or a wheel is so bent or fragged that they would need to be replaced THEN balanced anyways.....

to each his own. i think 200 bucks and let blaast do it the right way instead of 80 bucks for a rebuild kit and chance the -----up is the way to go, if you can afford it.

op, hope the discussion helps
