Default nog engine builder advice

sup guys? this is my first rebuild.. the motor is a d16y8 getting a full FTJ rebuild kit.
the motor was making some horrible sounds before it was yanked.. mostly a knocking sound which i thought was a spun bearing.

I haven't found any real signs of a spun bearing, but one of the main bearings looks pretty beat up. see below and tell me what you think
sorry the pics suck so bad.. my phone is the only camera I have.

I'm having problems getting the flywheel bolts off since I don't have air tools..
should I just put it back together without removing the crank?

oh, and this bearing is the only one that looks abnormal.. it has a wider/deeper gash than the rest and has some darker wear lines

the bearing journal doesn't look bad on the crank.
you could get it polished.. i would run it.
plastigauge everything.

to get the flywheel off, put a tranny bolt through the closed end of a combination wrench into the block and the open end in the slit of the pressure plate or pressure plate bolt (if off).
