no oil pan hole needed?
 

I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could use something such as an oil filter relocator or a oil cooler adapter plate that goes over the filter to return the oil to the pan? If not what is the best way to weld a fitting on the pan? what type of material is the pan? thanks guys

On some engines there is an electric oil-level meter (don't know if Honda's have them), if you ditch it, you can use that for the return.

You can weld, glue (epoxy) or solder it to the oil pan.

you still need the oil to drain into the pan, the oil coming out of the turbo isnt as pressurized as when it went in...

So it will not drain as well with all that line so far away?

correct, the oil return is gravity fed, and needs to have a nice smooth bend going back into the top of the oil pan. otherwise if oil gets backed up in the centersection, it will leak by the seals and start smoking badly. There really is no other way around this, removing the pan, and welding in a fitting is not to difficult.

thanks guys! Should I just mig a pipe and use a hose clamp or a ntp fitting?

a mig and hose clamp are popular choices... though i know using jb weld is just as popular lol.

for the record i know of a few cars that use hoses as large as 5/8" thats pretty big... then again the oil has the consistancy of a milk shake when it comes out of the turbo... we all know how well a milk shake flows though the iddy biddy straws we get... especaly if it was gravity fed.

I got a piece of tapped steel pipe with a fitting and tightened the fitting into it, cut the pipe hole, tacked it in the best position, took out the fitting, and welded it up real good. Works real good.

yeah i think home depot carries those pipes, they are threaded on both ends and a NPT thread.

cut one end off i was gonna use this big brass fitting i got but fuckit ill weld one on.
