no idea on mandrel bends??

ok, pretty much all i need now for my kit is charge piping, i was wondering if i should just buy bends on the net and have a shop make the rest, or does anyone have any good ideas on how i could do this? cuz there are no places around here that can mandrel bend. and i was wondering what size of piping and how many of what bends. im lost sorry

I'd pick up the bends from tuner toys but it's hard to say how many bends you need since it depends on mani, turbo placement, intercooler etc. Just map it out in your head and make an educated guess for what you might need. When you get the pipes just cut, fab, and mark where the welds need to be then get an exhaust shop to weld it up.

for what car.

I orderd 2 "J" bends and 2 "U" bends from summit for my 95 civic and that was enough. It was like $45 shipped.

pvc piping. it doesnt get hot. ;)

Re:no idea on mandrel bends??

don't use pvc for the first part of the charge piping off of the compressor if it has to go near the manifold. it gets hot, warps, and the couplers will melt unless you go silicon.

I have pvc for almost all of my piping.

I mocked mine up with pvc and took it to the exhaust shop for them to bend a peice up like that. They were in to much of a hurry and messed it all up. I think im going to go back and use 2" PVC for piping from the intercooler to the intake manifold. But im going to put a peice of steel in between a peice so i can weld my bov to it? This should work shouldnt it? How else would i mount a blow off valve on Pvc

Get them from Craig at Tuner Toys. Support those you know, and not terrorists. ;)

I just went to napa and got 5 feet of their 2" flexible metal pipe. it makes a nice big swoop from the compressor outlet to the throttle body.

i used 1 U bend and 1 J bend from summit and a cold air intake i had laying around and it worked out perfect.

i dont mean to thread jack, but someone answer me this. i wanna use tuner toys piping, mild steal. i plan on painting the outside, but wont the inside of the tube rust, or am i just retarded and need to be smacked in the face?

Re:no idea on mandrel bends??

It might rust due to condensation, if you live in SOCAL then go for it but if you live in canada, dont. it all depends on temperature change and weather, I say coat the whole thing with ceramic paint both inside and out.

how is it gona rust? it will probly get coated in a light coat of oil anyway. I wouldn't waste time painting the inside.

There's no need to do anything to the inside of the charge pipes.

I'm speachless, that's why I let you answer your own question with the quoted answer. ;)

just look at it this way: if you're lucky and you're cool enough your motor will blow before you have to worry about it.

PVC pipes? seriously you can use those? Would be so much ------- easier and more accessable to me

And no welding, jb weld for the BOV mount

yeah you could actually use pvc pipe, it's been done on here by someone before. Worked fine for that individual.
