Default Nissan 200sx turbo kit questions..

hi everyone
a friend has a nissan 200sx that is mildly modified about 280hp but he is planning to go bigger... he asked a dealer for a turbo kit and they offer a kit that has forged piston some injectors exhaust manifold etc. and a gt28rs turbo.. i have no idea about these new gt series garrets.. do you think that this turbo is a good choice for use in this car for about 1.5 bar boost.. i thought it wont handle that boost because it is internally wastegated and 28 is a smaller number for garrets than a 3
there are 4 a.r s for the gt28rs.. 0.62 0.68 0.82 0.86 which would be better?

u got 280hp on an NA 200sx? i highly super duper doubt that... are we talkin bout the US FWD ugly *** 200sx or the european 200sx that looks like a 240sx?

i have the GT2860RS on my motor n it feels awesome. a lil pricey if u ask me but if u get a good deal then i'd recommend it. i recommend the the .63/.86, not to much lag n flows nice amount of air.

no the car is not NA actually the car is a nismo but i don't know which model it is called in us, but the 200sx has the same looks of that car here... and the car is rear wheel drive the engine is 2 liter turbocharged the standart one is 230 hp i belive but the car is slightly modified using safc, avcr, stock turbo with changed waste gate setting up to 1.3 bar boost (1.1bar daily), hks ssq bov, larger intercooler and many gauges and some other stuff i cant remember...
he wants to go bigger for about 1.5bar boost will a gt28rs be good enough for this car? which a.r s would be better for the car dont forget its tuned with safc so rev limit cannot be changed and the turbo shouldn't be too big to give enough boost over 5000 and the car limits rev at 7000 rpm..
what else do you recommend for getting good power out of this car

if u have what i think u have, its a tipical nissan 200sx which here in us its a 240 or in japan its a Silvia. its like 230hp to the crank with a stock turbo no matter how much u boost on the stock turbo i guarantee it wont be more then 230hp to the wheel. it jus doesn't flow enough and isn't efficient enough. the GT2860RS is what i have on my 240sx with the same motor as you "or ur friend" and it holds boost til stock rev limit of 7k. im boosting 18-20psi n it pull's like a champ. its a direct bolt on to ur stock manifold/dp/oil lines n ----. why u trying to buy a 'turbo kit' if ur friend is already turbo'd with all those goodies like front mount bov n ----. jus get the turbo n retune it. n i kno for a fact even at 1.3 bar on the stock turbo u have nowhere near 280hp. get the .63/.86, nice hard powerband but not overkill...

i said 230 hp and 280hp not whp as you see... and i said i belive its about 280hp because the car beats a mitsu evo8 in rolling which is about that 280 hp.. neway its not important.. why do you think he doesn't need a different turbo? you have that turbo on your car and you say you are boosting 18-20psi that makes approximately lower than 1.5 bar what he is shooting for

dude, jus cuz u beat a car with 300hp doesn't mean u do to. i beat evo's in my 200hp integra so should i have judged it had 280hp as well? beating a car with more power doesn't mean u have more power then u thought, jus means u have a great power to weight ratio. n i never said don't change the turbo. if i was u i'd change it asap. Stock T25 sux and aint even efficient above 14ish psi.

well its obvious that the cars i'm talking about (silvia and evo have nearly same weight... well the evo8 is 4 wheel drive that will probably be a handicap over 100 mph but advantage in low speed etc so i said something about 280.. you could beat with your integra because its a lighter car... whatever.. you are getting out of the subject in all of your posts my question was something else thank you for your help though

i answered ur question as well as elaborate on ur story... stayed on subject bout turbo size/efficiency/abmount of power ur actually gonna be able to push. from what ive seen, any sr20 with stock turbo no matter of other upgrades, front mount ic, bov, injectors, management, if ur on the stock turbo you wont see much more then 215hp to the wheels. jus get the gt28 like i suggested, its an awesome turbo n im sure with proper tuning and stock internals you'll be up in the 350ish to the wheels. easily.
