Nippon Pistons
OK so i have been searching the site trying to find out more about these pistons. And all I keep seeing is people saying they cant be used on forged rods because they arent a floating pin piston. Well they do make a floating pin setup and Im intersting in buying them. I just want to know if anyone has any true experience with them be it good or bad. Yes they are cast but im building this budget and Ive seen amazing results on cast Vitara pistons.. so why not use these?? any input is really appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Nippon Pistons
you can definately use them, i actually bought those first for my car, but he didnt ship them for 2 months. so i bought a set of vitaras. then when they did come in, i found out they were for press fit pins. i didnt know they made them with locks for the floating wristpins. if you can get them, id say go for it. Single reason being: you'll be able to get .020" overbore which wont be as clangy in the bore from all the piston to wall clearance. The nippon ones are a little nicer than the vitaras, but i would also ask them what dish is in the piston.. it looked to me like it was less than 5cc's which wont lower the compression that much in a d series.

Ok thanks for your input, I just e-mailed him to see what size the dish is. What size whould I be looking for to lower the compression to about 8.5:1?? Ill be using a Nippon MLS head gasket too, which i beleive is stock thickness. Any input on the headgasket also??
Thanks again

Re: Nippon Pistons
i think his dish is really only 4cc's or something. i know my vitaras are a -16cc. that puts compression around 8.5, but i had my block and head decked, and i use a y8 thin layer head gasket to get compression to around 9.0:1 thats what you want to shoot for if your gonna use a big turbo.
