Default NGK Sparkplugs...

I was told to get NGK sparkplugs for my turbo set-up. I searched on their website. Now I'm lost.

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/ca...uv/results.asp

You can see I did a search for my year/model car and does the FI in the title stand for Forced Induction? Which plugs should I get? Thanks!

just get 7 heat range's, such as the ngk bkr7e. they should be at least 1 step colder. gap to between .028 and .030", to avoid any chance of spark knock

NGK's are mickle crafty. They are not only rated for their heatrange, but for the heat range on either side of it. For a low power setup, you can run stockers.

Get the steel electrode plugs for $1.68 or whatever. Platinum, etc, is a ruse to get you to waste money to create hot spots in your engine.

LS and most of the SOHC run "fives" aka BRK5E(S)-11's. It's easy to go into the parts store and ask for GSR plugs - BRK6E(S)-11. BTW, the S is an optional designation for some feature that doesn't matter one way or the other, and I forget what it is anyway. When you get into needing 7's, they only come one way, either with or without the S - again, I forget which... but the NGK stock number for those is 1283. You can go into a parts store and ask that way...

FYI, some riceboy rolled into the shop, a NA car I'd tuned previously, complaining of hard starting, intermittant stalling and intermittant idle quality problems, and occaisional lack of power. Last night, as a matter of fact. I dick dick dick dicked around with the car for an hour or two trying to recreate the problems - damn thing sounded like it was spark knocking when cranking and would spit-fidged for a second before the idle caught - until I pulled out the spark plugs. Riceboy had installed BRK8EIX, which are iridium plugs commonly used for 400-500 whp turbo K-series applications. Plug #2 had half it's tip eaten away.

Moral of the story - YAAAAARR!!1 HMT makes me feel like a pirate...

samson, i believe your stockers are
zfr5f11.
one step colder: ZFR6F11 (ngk part no. 4291) usually available at any parts store.
two steps colder: ZFR7F11 (ngk part no. 2975) can get either at ngk.com

here is the explation for the ngk numbering:

because if you need to ask about gapping the plugs you shouldn't be working on your car or own any tools for that matter
