newbie with a turbo question

Hey there. I've been reading posts on HMT for a while now but have never joined. I figured people here actually seem to know what they are talking about so now I would like some of your wisdom.

I just bought a Garrett T25. I am wondering how i can lower the boost pressure on it. It is off of a 1997 Eclipse GSX. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Re:newbie with a turbo question

You can either lengthen the wastegate actuater arm, or buy a different actuater. You can lengthen it by bending it, threading the wastegate arm and using a pipe coupler so you can adjust it, or you can add washers inbetween the wastegate mounting bracket and the turbo compressor housing.

I helped a newbie without flaming.... do I get a gold star?

I think thats worthy of a gold star. How bout another question. What is the max boost you would want to run on a d16a6? I think I'm gonna run 4-5 to start with, or is that too high?

10 is safe with ok tuning

If you run 5-6 you WILL be dissapointed. The very minimum to be a member of hmt is 7. And even then that aint all that. 10 is good with good tuning. Anything less.....would be uncivilized. ;D

So I would not have a problem running the stock 8 pounds? My engine does have almost 200,000 miles on it. I'm kind of concerned about the piston rings giving up on life though.

WONT BENIDING IT MAKE THE BOOST HIGHER?

Yes it will. I don't know why he said that. ??? Everything else was right. You just need to bring the actuator closer to the wastegate to lower boost.

BTW, your caps lock is on. ;)

8psi with a t25 is like 2 psi with a t3.I think your engine can handle it ;)

Raffi thats not true.. 8 psi is 8psi.. Come on.. how ironic of u to say something like that in a newby thread. Theres a sufficient amount more cfm but that is different then 9 pounds of pressure per Square inch..
However Si guy i think you can do 7psi and be happy... If you really want the power ur gonna need to move near double digits in ur heavier ride.

I have a civic si now .... and am going to boost 10 psi daily and 12 at the track ;D. Using turboedit and a 2bar map sensor. Some WBO2 tuning....going to run a 42/48 T3 first.

Actually fuckers, the t-25 wastegate actuater is already bent so if you bend it, your actually lengthening it.
Got em. 8)
