New way for fueling needs?

Hi , I was wondering cause i read this article in HOT4S magazine which turbocharge a stock 1.5l mitsubishi motor with c/r 9.3:1 just using one extra injector and an upgraded fuel pump....the theory used is like this.....

the extra cold start injector(or 5th injector) will start to inject fuel to the motor when it detects boost at a constant level using a hobbs pressure switch.....so if the engine starts to run rich the stock ecu will lean out the 4 stock injectors to equalise the air/fuel ratio ....if it runs lean then it will do vice versa.......

do u think this setup will work.......i know that the mirage is running 12psi with a intercooler similar to starion but smaller....with everything else stock...just a better fuel pump and radiator

comments? thanks..... ;)

yup, that should work just fine, lots of setups are like that.

really? then how come i dont see people use it as an alternative to FMU and the AFC hack? wouldnt it be a lot more cheaper.......? and how much boost is recommended? have u tried this method before Abaz?

Obviously, this wouldn't be a great set up to do on an actual cold start! Or would it... dumping alot of fuel in to get that engine warmed up!

I know that Greddy makes a kit for this, and they even offer up to like a 1200 cc injector, the kit they have I think lets you control the actual pulsing of the injector. It has a really wierd name, can't remember it at this time...

i dont understand....the cold start injector or the extra 5th injector only starts to spray in fuel when it sees/detect boost.....

because some systems can cost alot, and your typical ricer is going to take the easy way out and throw a FMU on, since its easy as hell to install..

These are pretty nice systems

You can do a cheap method, with just a hobs switch, and I am sure it will work, but I like to have some type of control over my fuel.

I personally have never used one on any of my cars, but I have seen them in action.

A friend had limited (low boost) success with a Hobbs activated injector. He had an idea of running muliple injectors triggered at different boost levels, but Hobbs switches are like $40ish a pop. The sdsefi looks like some good bang for the $.
