New Turbo, Just some Questions

I got a .60/.63 off a mid-80's 300zx today at the yard. They pulled for $100 Can so about 75-80 USD. Not bad, fairly goo condition but a little dirty.

But when it come to the wastegate housing I've got this 7 bolt

There is NO way I can run this!

Anybody know of a 7bolt wastegate housing that I can use. Otherwise I'll have to go to an external wastegate

I was looking at that. That downpipe is cast too isn't it? I don't think you can cut that flange and weld onto it. I don't know what to tell you about the flange man.

Maybe the guy at weirracing could help you out? I'd try to contact him if I were you.

Ya, I dont think aaron(weirracing) has any thing for that. I'm gonna need that whole wastegate flange and all that using a 7 bolt design. I just might get aaron to make a block off style flange and go external.

Oh well, and No for all I know it's not a wideband.

just cut it closer to the flange and weld your exhaust right to it :)

hack that flange off so its lighter to ship, send it to weir, and have him make a flange. better yet, got a gasket from it?

Re: New Turbo, Just some Questions

Problem is I don't need a flange, I need a Swinggate housing like on a internally gated t3, but with 7 bolts instead of 5.

Anyway, Weir is a 20min drive from me, I would just drop it off at his house.

Can anybody tell if I could modify a 5bolt and make it work, is the wastegate hole in the same position?

Wow do somepeople not read.

I'm not looking for an actuator, Already got a 5.5, 6.5, and an 8psi, not looking for a flange from weir.

I'm looking for a internal Wastegate housing WITH Wastegate flapper that has a & BOLT design, Not a 5 bolt, This way I can run an internal wastegate instead of a external. I would like to run an external but I don't have the cash for a new manifold and wastegate.

Re: New Turbo, Just some Questions

I think what everybody here is missing, and what I was missing at first, is that the actuator is attached to the piece of dp he has, so he either needs an external wastegate and a block off flange for the dp, or a dp piece that fits that has the right flapper location.

if I was you I'd just chop that dp piece you have and weld on your exhaust for now, and be looking for the part you need, and consider external gate for the future.

Re: New Turbo, Just some Questions

Ya, I choped it today, to see what can be done. The turbo is gonna sit for a while and I'll run the 14b till then. I just want my car back. External wastegate is what I would really want because eventually(next winter) I'll have to get one anyways and a block off plate would be no problem to make(either weir or myself). Maybe in the time it takes me to get the t3 ready I'll find a solution.

Re: New Turbo, Just some Questions

maybe with some fabrications skills you and aaron can come up with a dp flange that has a flapper on it, just look at the design on the cast unit and figure out what needs to be done, it's probably not too hard, just a rod with a piece of metal that sticks out the top fo the pipe for the actuator arm to attach to.

Ya but for the time and money Aaron and I are gonna have to put it to doing that I might as well get an external or swap Turbiine housing for a 5bolt ford style.
