New Turbo App for 90 Integra??

I currently have a 90 integra B18A motor with a little over 175k on it. Full tuneup, I want to put a turbo on it running around 4-5psi. (nothing major) Im wondering if that would be a good idea to do, and what things should i do to prepare for it. I heard I should get a compression test done first to make sure its above 200psi. Afterwards im thinking of using this setup: a T25 turbo or T3, oil lines, turbo manifold, 35mm wastegate, front mount intercooler, pipes and BOV? If i missed anything please tell me.. I know how to look for the parts, I just wanna know if I should go through with this. Thanks

You'll probably need to replace the head gasket and keep the pcv system in check before you begin. There are plenty of options for the gen 2 integras, you'll want more boost then 4psi.

read this entire page and get back to me with your questions..

That page does have plenty of info. I didnt wanna go any higher than 5psi cause im afraid ill blow my engine, and this is my daily driver to and from school and work. I wanna use this to burn my friend who has a v6 and have a cool and fast car at the same time. I wasnt sure if 7 would be a good idea. But If its not as rough as I hear than I wouldnt mind. If you have AIM you can check my profile for my name, no point in hogging this forum with our mindless chit chat...even though it is fun ;D

Why the hell should I not clog this forum with mindless chit chat? I'm the moderator here and I don't mind. The advantage to me posting this for public view is so other members can get answers solved without having to ask the questions (especially if they are familiar with the search function).

You'll be fine with 6-10 psi with proper fuel management, might not be a bad idea to pick up a spare block anyways.

Fuel management is the hardest thing, Turboedit software is your friend with this project. I also have a '90 RS

It'a all about the fuel management and tuning.
Get a T3 and 7-8 psi should be fine with a AFC hack or turboedit or uberdata.
Just check your compression as the shop manual says...it doesn't have to be above 200 psi...just not under 135 psi and they musn't very more then 15 psi from each other, if I'm not mistaken.

Sweet thanks for your help, Im going to call around today to find out where I can get the test done. and look for a spare block so I know where they are and how much Ill need. Thanks alot.. If the testing for my compression passes, Ill have the project done by next spring (got school and work so ill be very busy) im gonna piece it together. to save money

call around to get prices?

---- that!

for the same damn money you're about to pay take your ass to the parts store and buy your own compression checker for $20.

If you have a ratchet and a sparkplug socket then you'll be able to do the ---- yourself. You will need one if you plan on boosting.

Thanks for the tip, if my mechanic wont do it for chea, ill suck up to someone who i know can or buy the kit myself. Do you know how I can "rebuild" the engine to make it work a little better with the turbo, make it like the car has 90k instead of 175k, i dont mind the miles anymore since i know the car should be able to handle boost ( my engine seems to be the best according to this website, who knew?)

Re:New Turbo App for 90 Integra??

I also read that the compression is 9:2:1, i dont know if that is good, but this guide on boosting at http://www.beesandgoats.com/boostfaq/g2icturbo.html says its great. I think im gonna go ahead with this setup. Thannks for helping me along the way. I hope to have it in my spring of 05, if not sooner.. The winter is a killer. so i dont think im gonna drive it her, this weather sucks

Get a compression check done, maybe change out the head gasket for safety.. while you're at it do the timing belt and water pump.

If treated right and done properly you won't have any problems.
