Hi all

im new to the site, my name is bryan & i live in north east UK.

lets get started, i have a 1998 laguna which i have fitted a volvo T4 engine into with an emerald ecu running it all (plus loads of other mods).

it currently has a TD04L 14T fitted i want to make a hybrid TD04l BIG 16G, my question is will the big 16G compressor housing from a TD05 fit the TD04L core or do i have to get the 14T housing machined ?

if i have to go down the route of having the 14t housing machined where can i get it done ?

 

doubt they would fit together perfectoly. your best bet is to buy a turbo you want or bring that one to a professional turbo rebuilding shop otherwise your asking for trouble.

 

im new to turbo building, however im not new to engineering, all i want to know is if the housing from the TD05 16G will fit the TD04 core, Are the TD04 & TD05 core the same (regardless of the shaft and turbine housing) ?

 

td04 and td05 refers to the center cartridge size so i am going to go with no.

 

TD04 & TD05 refers to the turbine & housing, I cant find any specifications on the web for centre cartridge sizes.

 

as the exhaust housing gets bigger the center cartridge gets bigger. a td04 is for 13-15g turbo. the td05 is the larger housing so it is for the 16g-20g turbo. noticeably larger. a td04 rebuild kit and a td05 rebuild kit are completely different so i am going to still say no they are not campatible.

you may find a precise answer on a mitsubish forum. theres got to be some gurru on there that can get you your answer quickly.
