New to the site...hi.
 
Hey, I'd just like to take a moment and say whats up to everyone here. I am new to the site, cause I want to learn more about forced induction, and possibly gain knowledge to try my own "junkyard" turbo setup. I spend 95% of my online time on Honda-Acura.net, some may recognize the username.

Despite the username though, I do not drive a Honda, but am very much a Honda enthusiast. I need info on a DIY turbo potential project. I have a 93 Mazda 323, 1.6L, 5-speed. I'v been doing research and these come turboed in Japan, I would like to attempt to mate a DSM turbo to my engine I just have no idea where to begin, and cost, etc.

If anybody could help me out I would greatly appreciate it a lot. Info such as estimated price, parts needed, tools, etc. Thanks again.

Hey,

I don't know much about 323's, but as long as you got the same engine as the turboed version, then a custom kit won't be impossible, but it'll probably still be tough. You'll need to know basically everthing about the turboed version so you can make your's right. If you're going with a T-25, you will need to do some serious research on your turbo manifold to make sure you can get a custom adapter plate to mate the two together. You'll want it to be close, if not the same, as the turboed version, that way you can use some of "their" parts. That's just the basic stuff though. You'll need to know about Fuel and spark management as well... I've checked on google for you about th 323 and custom turbo projects, and couldn't find a close match related. There's always a first though, so why not make it you. Make a list of things you'll need, then mark them off.

Manifold
Turbo
Adapter plate (to mate them together)
Exhaust Outlet to Cat Converter
Charge Pipes (normally made last after test fits)
BOV
Oil Supply
Oil Return (drain) to oil pan
Water Supply (to cool turbo)
Water Return
Fuel and spark engine management. (This is the most important to make it last)
TOOLS! (of course)

... and lot's of time. Custom stuff normally means nobody else has done it the same as you and it requires more time than anything.

well im' allso new to hmt but am on O-T.net alot (derrived from H-A.net i'd like to use this thread to basically say the same thing... i am reasearching a way to custom turbo my d15b2(or d15b7 not sure yet) and am trying to spend least amount of $$$ most amount of time..
anyways.. if anyone has any suggestions for a 88 civic hatch se then please email me at bajenska@hotmail.com

one thing if you could reply in this thread maybe someone knows how much psi a d15 can take? cuz it would be very useful.. in deciding... i wanna buy maybe a t23 or something...

d15, I guess it depends on condition. I would never take one over 10psi. And that's only in the best conditions (i.e. low miles, intercooled, great fuel and spark management). Without the last one, you'll have some short driving experiences regardless. I personally wouldn't use a d15.

update: I personally wouldn't be caught dead with a d15 unless it was given to me to destroy under heavy boost conditions.

The turbo'd mazda 323 doesn't have the same 1.6 liter you have It has a 1.8 liter though and 4 wheel drive and ----.
Here in Europe they have the left hadn drive version of it.
I saw a few of them even drove in one.
They are tha ----....,
Would like to have one...hmmm but ain't got the cash now
