Ok i know everyone swaps sohcs into docs or does some kind of odd conversion, i know i may sound stupid, but i would like to stay with the engine it comes with. I need to have some suggestions on the type of turbo and i need an estimate of what the costs will be to make a kit, i hear that it is alot cheaper. If anyone has expereince with the D16's on here, please givve me some advice on the matter,

well if your new and dont' know a whole lot and dont' wanna mess up your engine.. i'd say get a Kit like Greddy or something, the kit will come with everything you need to run what like.. 4-5 psi when you install it, only problem is, is the kits are 2 times if not MORE expensive than HMT projects.

Ok, if you have a 98 Civic Ex as your SN applies, you have a D16y8 SOHC vtec engine. It will handle boost pretty well. I have a buddy that swaped that engine into a 90 CRX and was boosting it with a td05h-14b (1st gen DSM Turbo) at about 7-9 lbs. It was the ride in his car that started me on my path towards boostdom. I'd say go with one of those, or a T3 .42/.48 for a good street car.

id say dont buy ---- until u reasearch for a couple of months, u dont wanna buy something that u thought was good then research and go ---- , thats not for me, i did that ----, and ended up with a bad turbo i bought off egay for like 400 bucks, so search around the fourms here, they are very helpfull read up on what other people are going, there is alot of people here boostin d series. have fun man

I'd deff. do the reseach and do a HMT. I'm guilty of the good ole "buy a missing link for the AFC hack" mistake... Spent $50 on a used missing link when I had no use for it what so ever... learn... Understang... If you don't understand it, ask questions...

Depending on how much boost you want you can either start out with a small turbo and a fmu or you can go ahead and get injectors and an afc and then go to www.precisionturbo.net they have some of the best turbo around, by the way, where do u live? you need to get some of the main things for your setup like manifold, bov, turbo, intercooler, you can have the piping made by muffler shop or you can look online to find piping for our car. i would suggest 21/4 to 21/2 inch piping( probably 2/12 though)
