New to Forced Induction
sup, im new to turbochargers...now after looking at some of the pictures on this site, i found that some turbos have thier own internal wastegate? if you have a internal wastegate...can u put a external one too or can you just have one"? thanx
It would be pretty useless to have both. Most people use internal because it's already on the turbo and they're cheap. We're all about cheap
Good external wg's cost between $70-300. You can get an internal from just about anything to fit on just about any turbo with a little ingenuity and you can get them at the jy for cheap. The biggest benefit to external wg's are no boost creep but you can use an MBC to control that fairly well with an internal.

Welcome to the website. Your questions have pretty much been covered, but I would argue the fact that a normal MBC is going to take away the boost creep, I think only a few types of valves work that way, like the hallman pro.
most manual boost controllers use the bleed type screw valve. EBC stands for Electronic boost controller and are popular on higher up systems.. but us HMT guys usually stick with modifications of the internal waste gate or cheaper home made MBCs.

i dont see how even the best boost controller is going to take away boost creep. From how i always understood it, it happens when the wg cant flow enough exhaust and the boost rises. So having an mbc wont help that since the wg can only flow so much, but people notice less boost creep at higher boost levels since the actual setting is closer to the psi reached when the wg cannot flow anymore. just my 2 cents
