Hello,
I drive a 1993 honda crx del sol with 187k miles (i know a lot but it runs like a champ) Recently i have been doing a lot of reading off your forums and other sites etc.. and decided i would like to turbo my car. I have a d16z6. Reason i am chooseing turbo is because i was in florida this past spring break =) **Party**! ahaha and all i heard was the sound of BoVs runnin down the strip so i guess u can say i am in love with the sound. I only want to run about 6psi. Thinking about the t 25 turbo and a std manifold piping etc.. got my list set up only main thing that confuses me about this process is the fuel management.. i understand the more air more fuel now should i go with the FMU.. Enginelight ---- kinda freaks me out.. or incase one day i want to go and do a 9 10psi run should i just go with the AFC hack with injectors and stuff. This is my first time doing a custom set up to my car of anykind but i think i am pretty determind to do this and would like everything to go as easy as possible. I am just out here to have fun not be a speed demon. So any helpful tips would be great especially for the fuel managment and how it all works.. also did some reading on a catch can and all that can someone clairify it all for me thanks a ton.

you want a turbo because of the bov sound? thats some ricey sounding ---- bro

i say go with the fmu, since you are only looking for a cool sound and not power.
btw the factory internal wastegate on a t25 is set at 11-12psi, so you better either be ready to make that much boost or get an external. if you wanna try doing it the right way, 370-450cc injectors and an ecu programmed for it is the way to do it. mileage doesnt mean ----, i have a d15b7 that went for almost a year turboed on 12psi, it had 230k on it when i popped it on. what does matter is the engines mechanical condition. aka how well you treat it. oil every 3k, all maintenance performed when the manual says, will do a lot for how long the engine lasts. the only reason mine blew was because the wastegate seized up on me, and i overboosted.

something about everything makes you fall in love with it.. in this case i loved the sound of someone switching gears and hearing the bov. Ricey ---- w.e lol i enjoy my car for what it is and what i do with it has to do with my own personal preference if someone puts a bodykit on there car neons w.e u do its what u like and im not gonna rag on you for it.

but i will ;D

i get pissed off because all these ricey honda drivers put the rest of us in the same category as the sheep that drive around with their visors cocked and wife beaters, driving around their apc civic with unpainted front bumper. the fast and the furious really opened a hole that should never have been opened, and turned the import culture into a damn trend. now instead of creating an atmosphere where we can respect each other and learn from each other through the things we do to our cars (as the nissan, chevy, ford, etc. guys have), we have to listen to our fellow "honda enthusiasts" talk ---- and not know jack squat about the cars they're bragging about. you race them and beat them, and they refuse to accept it and even sometimes try to damage your ---- simply because they dont wanna accept that they're slow. anytime somebody beats me, i always pull over to a gas station or something, buy em a drink, and talk about what we've done to our cars. thats how it should be. makes me wanna go punch somebody in the face just thinking about it.

i recommend using dsm 450cc injectors, as the bolt right up to the fuel rail only having to change the fuel system from saturated to peak and hold (done easily by using a resistor box off an old crx). there are quite a few guys here who chip ecus, im sure you won't have a problem finding one. i reccomend sending it to somebody unless you feel you have a good amount of experience and confidence soldering things as small as ecu traces.

You obviously haven't looked very hard at the stickys at the top of the forum page. It explains fuel managment.

by the way, t25's have a wastegate limit of 8 psi. The DSM computer allows it to reach up to 10-11 psi without a stock boost controller.

that's how it all starts... when i first did a turbo kit last year on my teg, all i wanted to do was blow off on people. i told my self id only boost like 4psi if that jus to blow off on people but as soon as i got the car running my first thought was "how do i turn up the boost"... trust me as soon as you feel it die out cuz of low boost and a noise, ur gonna try and turn it up. it happens to everyone.

Re: New

Lol, get the bov horn! Naw, really, get a real ems (either chipped ecu, or other if you have the money). Listen to 2high, the fmu just pours fuel in when your in boost, its really not the greatest thing, it is not a controlled process. I would be really worried about washing my rings out with one of those. Neway, following trends is cool if that is what you are into, but it's doing things different that gets you noticed. Buy a d-series block somewhere and build it slowly, then boost crazy ---- on it. If you just try to boost 5-6psi, you will get bored real quick and be lookin for more boost. If you just want the sound don't go through the process of the whole turbo kit, it is really more complicated than you think. Go out and get a bov sound thingy. Jmho. GL.
