NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
ok, i've been having this problem with my car burning oil, so i did a compression test and that wasent it, and i found out that the turbo was leeking oil into the exhuast side of the turbo and it was burning up, so... i rebiult my turbo and that didnt work, i tried thicker oil and that worked for about 2 days, now it only burns oil when at WOT or when im driving and i let off the gas to slow down or to switch gears, when im cruising along at 60mph with the gas down a little there is no smoke, so i figured it was that my oil pressure was too high and i've heard of these things called needle valves, the question is "where the ---- can i buy one"? and i already read the FAQ and searched on the site and i cant find any posts about where to actually get one or what they look like.

Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
my oil line is 1/4 in brake line (no, not the fancy braided type) so i found a valve at lowes . Its just a 1/4 in valve and i pulled the compression fittings off and just used the threads stright off it. The part number for it is A-42..... look in the fitting bins.

Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
i have a braided full line for my T3, is there something i gan get to just screw mine into it or something?
|
Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
i recently rebuilt my turbo and it dont smoke with the needle valve on full flow. A t3 rebuild shouldnt be that much but id do the valve first. Your oil return flows well right?
|
Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
u can mount it right on the turbo where the SS line goes..
also yeah make sure your oil return is perfect. |
Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
mine is like this, steel braided line from the oil pressure sensor-needle valve -brass T-oil pressure guage under hood-stainless lines-turbo. I cant wait to see how well it works, just need to finish building motor.

Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
when i was talking to the guy at turbocity.com he said a stock honda "OIL" pump will never make enough pressure to blow out the seals. if its leaking because of that it wasnt put toghether correctly. this is from a guy with years in the business. just my 2cents

bullshit, ive also read that turbos should have no more then 25psi oil pressure. |
Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
turbocity is a bunch of cocksuckers, they are right down the street from me. you know what their main business is? Jeep parts, not turbos. i hate those cocky ------- arrogant assholes

Re:NEEDLE VALVE!!!!!!
who ever said that oil pressure doesnt matter i would have to disagree with, its just that with my car, there is no blue smoke when im pressing the gas a little, only at WOT or when im not pressing the gas at all and i have it in gear. so oil pressure has to have some part of it, it has to be changing and thats why its smokeing

and about the jeep parts ya they got that, and turbo bug parts too, anyways that what he told me. y are they cocksuckers, bad experience? they were good with me. i got a polished turbonetics super60 t3 from them for 500 cash and he gave me their 12k mile warranty plus some drain tube fittings.. 99turbosi, your right that the turbo is going to smoke more a t WOT , thats when the pressure is at its max. makes sense that thats when it would smoke if the seals were just starting to go. weird thing is that on my last turbo it smoked at idle and not at WOT. beats me mang. |
