need to weld lips to keep couplers on???

i don't know what the hell you want to call it but at the end of the pipes is it really necessary to weld a small lip to keep silicone couplers from slipping off or are the coupler bands enough?? i'm not planning on making crazy high boost probably just like 7-9 psi

dunno man,.. i'll find out soon enough.. but i think it's ok as long as you torque the ---- out of the clamps with SOCKET, not screwdriver.. and use 2 clamps... cuz when i did that with screwdrivers, i pulled like very hard and my intake pipes stayed together.. and 7psi is not a lot.. think, your tires have 35psi or so and that's so much.. and at 7psi, it's almost bullshit

you dont need to do it with a welder, at least flare the pipe out a little with pliars or eventually they will blow off

How bout melting a bead of solder all around to give it a lip?

Im getting ready to see how that works...

I have never had this happen, but I guess it does happen. I can't see how one of those clamps could come off unless it is at a very bad angle and is resting on the body or something. I don't think it is neccesary.

only fools will have charge pipes busting out... unless you run 25psi, usual 7-12 psi will hold

just ------- USE THE SOCKETS AND TIGHTEN IT

don't be a ----- and use the screwdriver

ok well it does happen...i flared my pipes afterwards...you cant tighten those shitty clamps too much or they strip

Re:need to weld lips to keep couplers on???

get an exahust flaring device

you put it in the pipe then you hammer it on the ground and it flares it a bit

Maybe you could put jb weld around the pipe ends and create a texture to the pipes. That would help the couplers hold, and you would get major props for being ghetto. :)

go to Summit racings website and order some real T-bolt clamps, they really arent that much money , are stainless and grip. never had a problem in 2 years of 9 psi, with no flared /beaded ends

Re:need to weld lips to keep couplers on???

my nitride couplers/homedepo connectors let loose at about 11 psi, i just sanded the charge pipes with 100 grit and that fixed it. the connectors had nothing to grip to before.
