need some input
need some input, im running a stock d16z6 except for exhasut, and am putting together a homemade t25 kit im lookin for a little extra go not going to be doing any serious racing, and i was wondering about using a vortech fmu versus afc hack, since it would save me 150 or so and im on a limited budget....do you guys think it would be okay at around 5-6 psi on stock injectors until i can get some 450's? if so what disk should i use 6:1, 8:1, im an obvious newbie to turbo and any help is appreciated

Re:need some input
For that low of a psi on that small of a turbo I would say go for it. It would almost be a waste to use an AFC or a real fuel management system for that low of a psi. FMU's suck, but they are ok for low psi setups, I guess. :-\
As for the disk size, I see soooo many people with 12:1's running pig---------rich. I think a 10:1 would do the job better. That's still a pressure gain of 60psi at 6psi. Your injectors will love it. :P __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:need some input
what if i upgrade later to 450's, should i just stick with the same thing, and maybe upgrade the disk to a 12:1?

Re:need some input
I noticed you said "until I can get some 450s". You dont need 450's if you're gonna be running an fmu. Unless of course you meant to get the 450s and use the AFC hack.

Re:need some input
i know i sound like an idiot, this is my first go around with a turbo...and theres just no local help...everyone who knows anything is in atlanta...so in order to upgrade to bigger injectors i would def have to upgrade the fuel pump along with prob going with the hack?

Re:need some input
Nah, you don't sound like an idiot. You spell your words right and ask valid questions with hopes of learning. :)
^^^that was my nice post for the year. That's enough of that. :P Yes, the hack would be the next step up from the FMU. The pump SHOULD be upgraded with this setup. You should look into a more advanced fuel management system if you want to get serious with it. The AFC and FMU's and the rest are very limited, but IMO very nice products(ok, maybe not the FMU). It depends on what your plans are I guess. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:need some input
might I suggest the smc+,
its around 100bux, and you can get injectors for under 100, so it should be well under 200. an fmu will run you like 150 anyways right? and actually there was someone around my parts runing a jdm d15b vtec setup, on a modified greddy kit, he was runing mid 13's, on an fmu with 450's and an upgraded pump. I guess it worked. |
Re:need some input
ill look into that, i appreciate all the feedback

Re:need some input
If you use FMU, be shure to get an inline fuel pump! Otherwise you *are* asking for troubles....
