Need help clocking mitsu TD04L turbo

I've been working on in for a few hours and snapped two ends off my snap ring pliers but still can't move center section. I can loosen the ring but can't seem to turn the center section. Do I have to take the ring right off for it to be able to turn. Help I'm stuck and have no clue now. Also doesn't help that the damn pliers keep slipping off. Any suggestions would be great. ???

edit- sorry by ring I mean circlip that holds the compressor to center.

After awhile, they get all gunked up and are hard as hell to turn, at least, the exhaust side does. Try soaking it in PB Blaster for a few hours and see if it helps. I had to put mine in a vice and actually remove the exhaust housing and take a wire wheel to the inside of the housing to get all the crap out. When I put it back on, it turned pretty easily.

You're gonna have to start hitting it hard as hell with a hammer on the exhaust side. That's how I got mine loose. Took about 15 min. hitting it with a hammer. :o

Actually the exhaust side was easy to take off....I'm having troubles with the circlip holding the compreesor housing to the center section. Yeah my post wasn't very specific cuz when I said ring I meant circlip. sorry

Harbor Freight has a set of plyers for $10 that worked for me. That is the biggest, nastyest, steroided like snap rings EVER !!

It took people to get mine out. One person worked the flat head and held the turbo, the other worked the snap ring plyers.

That is a sick bitch !!! I hope I never have to deal with it again...

Yes, you have to remove it to cock the turbo....

The exhuast side is pretty easy.

^^^ ahh crap was hoping I didn't need to take it off cuz if it's this hard to take off then how much harder is it to put on. :'(

edit- any tips on getting the circlip back on ;)...thanks
