Default Mystrey Drop in Boost.

WHat do you guys do if sudenlly one day you find the boost gauge isnt going past 5 psi. Where as last week she was boosting to 14 PSI ok.

WHat is the list of things you would go thru to figure out whats going on.

So far what Ive done.

1. Checked for an air leak none found.
2. Replaced the boost gauge no joy.

What next.

check for an exhaust leak at the turbo or maybe a wastegate issue. I went from 10psi to 7psi because i had a fairly good leak at the turbo flange

Yeah, if you were pushing that high of psi and now your not, and you haven't changed anything, wither your wastegate is taking a poop on you or you a re bleeding exhaust pressure somewhere. Has you car gotten noticibly louder during hard excellerations lately? if your letting off that much exhaust, it is bound to be louder/

1. Wastegate
2. Exhaust leak pre-turbo(maybe a crack in the exhaust housing)
3. Bad boost gauge
4. Charge pipe leak
5. Massively clogged air filter
6.??

In frustration Ive just dumped the wastegate.
Its boosting good again.
What the F happens to these waste gates that they sudenlly start acting up like this i.e. opening at difirent PSI. Or leaking.
Is there something we can do to fix it.

im having a similar problem with my turbo LS. i was boosting steady 16 psi and then all of a suddenone day it only boosts 10 psi but it takes till readline for me to get that high. i used to get full boost (16) by about 4900 rpm, now at that rpm i only get like 5 but it keeps building untill redline where its gets to 9 or 10. my wastgate has a 1 bar spring (14.7 psi) so i doubt that its even opening. i thought it might have been my gasket that went from the turbo to the manifold so i changed that and it still does the same thing. i cant see any cracks on my manifold so i have no clue whats causing this. please help me.

I figured this one out.
When it was new i.e. from the junk yard
There was dirt and junk so it wasnt opening at 10. With a little bit of use it setled into a grove and started working.
Hooked up the WG to a compresor (My mates place where we striped the turbo yesterday ). ANd it opens at 5 to 6 psi.
THe WG seems ok Its just seems to open at that PSI.
So we hooked up a SPring. Dam thing is now boosting to 18 PSI need to change the spring.
Changing the diaphram is a toughf one mate. I wish you the best of luck with that one. Brave man.
