My turn! Smoking problem.

Sup,

Ive been pulling my hair out trying to figure out my car's smoking problem. It smokes some under boost (i understand some black smoke is ok since im running 12.1:1 AFR) but when i engine brake down hills and then hit the gas, POOF a big puff of oil smoke. Ive ran compression check - 175-180 across the board.

Ive recently fixed my oil return line.. it doesnt smoke near as much under boost now. Im curious if the turbo seals could cause the car to smoke when i engine brake and then hit the gas.. and if so, how? I realize that valves seals would also cause a similiar problem. I was running a stock PCV system and a catch can (yes i know, wrong way) to the valve cover, and disconnected both of them to see if it made any change and it didnt.

Any ideas? The turbo has a very very slight amount of side to side play but nothing i would consider excessive.

BTW, this is on a d16z6 in an EF with a dsm t25

this is also with 5w30 mobil oil.

take off your charge pipe and see if you notice and oil residue at all even the slightest bit, and also check your charge pipes. If there are any signs of oil then try a restrictor valve and if that does't solve the problem then rebuild time.

Yes there is, i noticed it last time i had the pipes off but attributed it to a poor drain line setup. I assumed that with the stealthmode oil line kit i would not need a restrictor but it may be time to give one a shot
