my turbo ek motor
so i have been cruizing this site and reading some of the information. i recently have purchased a motor my buddy was building because he decisded to go B series instead, so heres what the motor is
d16z6 y8 intake manifold srp forged pistons and rings eagle H beam rods copper head gasket block gaurd p28 chipped and tuned ecu skunk 2 conversion harness centerforce clutch 8 pound flywheel 390cc injectors i ordered my turbo kit the other day also t3/t4 turbo with external wastegate equal length turbo manifold front mount intercooler 160x460x90 3 inch downpipe 3 inch intercooler piping RFL blow off valve im thinking this will be a great set-up to run probably around 15psi, but im thinking about just running 12psi. he was running 10 on his d15b7 and it ripped like mad, so i think 12 will be great and will be safer on the motor so i dont grenade it all to hell. so what does every one think of my set-up. feel free to vioce any opinions about it. thanks for the welcome to HMT also, he was talking about putting the d15b7 camshaft in the z6, any opinions on this idea, will it actually make the motor run better or will it run the same as though it had te z6 cam in it. thanks again. james |
Re: my turbo ek motor
hey bro isn't that a lot of boost to be running on that motor...i mean im running a soch vtec too but 12 lbs. seems to be too much especially when your saying you dont want to make your motor "grenade" lol...just curious...
ps. my buddy only ran 9lbs on his ls |
Re: my turbo ek motor
if your running a built motor, anything under 20psi is a waste. go with 20psi

ps. my buddy only ran 9lbs on his ls and get bigger injectors, you will max those out... |
Re: my turbo ek motor
i would go with higher psi, but im afraid i might crack the block or have a huge problem arise from running such high numbers. and this is a daily driver so i kinda need to have some kind of gas milage that wont break me ever time i drive the car.
also, i was looking at my waste gate, i dont know how to adjust the boost level. it has a spot for a threaded bolt on the top and anouther on the side closer to the manifold. do i put bolts on those or do i leave them open. could any one tell me what to do about the bolts and how to adjust the boost. thanks |
