my summer project (with pics)

after driving my friends buick grand national and another friends turbo crx, i decided that my civic was way too ------- slow. so, i set out to turbocharge it. here are some pics

...some of them are pretty shitty, but oh well.

here is the car after i removed all the a/c components and tried fitting up the turbo. looks like it should fit
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess010.jpg

two pics of my hacked-up A/C bracket
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess004.jpg

http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess003.jpg

a pic of my 1G DSM SMIC
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess006.jpg

i had to reweld the inlet so it faced a more friendly direction
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess009.jpg

here's a pic of my upper charge pipe, before painting it
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...progess001.jpg

and after painting (stupid ------- bright sun...)
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/ww...chargepipe.jpg

a picture of my lower charge pipe. it was originally all one peice, but i got one of the peices a little off during welding, so i had to chop it to allow some flex.
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/www/chargepipe.jpg

the other part of lower chargepipe and my ghetto-rigged airfilter.
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/www/filter.jpg

a somewhat vauge shot of the downpipe. im currently not running a cat, and i have a pretty long peice of flexpipe joining this to my 2.25" thermal. its a little loud, but it sounds nice.
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/www/downpipe.jpg

here you can see the intercooler peeking through my bumper... i think i need to cut some stuff so it'll get more air
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/www/SMIC.jpg

finally, here's a really crappy pic of the gauges.
http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/mdharris/www/gauges.jpg

the details are this:
d16z6 in a '93 si
T25 from a 2G dsm (using a 1G O2 housing)
SMIC, BOV, and 450s from a 1G dsm
BMC adaptor plate
stealthmode oil lines
p28 running uberdata

so thats what i did with my credit cards and time this past month. in a week or two ill hopefully be able to afford a wideband so i can start datalogging. for all the hardware ive spent about $7-800. not in that is the $200 i spent of my laptop, and a coming $300 for a PLX.

props obviously to hmt, stealthmode, and BMC. would have been pretty much impossible to do in a month if it werent for this site :-*

I figure my computer is way smarter than me so I should let it tell me what to do and what not to do. ;)

Image Removed to preserve bandwidth

switch to firefox
Hey Doc. Do yourself a favor and check that little box that
says not to show that warning. All that warning indicates is that you're connecting to a secure webpage which will also be apparent by the little lock in the status bar. It's not a security risk since you're running IE, which is a giant security risk anyway ;)

That's a nice custom HMT setup you've got there. It's very close to what I'll have in a couple weeks as soon as I can get some stuff welded up.

Is this a daily driver?

Looks sweet man, can't wait to get mine on the road!

Rockin no AC in 90* weather is the ----!

Re:my summer project (with pics)

yea, its my daily driver. i get around the weather issues by doing most of my driving in the early morning or evening, when its not so damn hot.

im using the dsm 450s with radio shack resistors

Re:my summer project (with pics)

I'd probably take the rest of your AC lines off, looks kinda tacky, as well as the wiring for the ac compressor and fans. Just rip that ---- out. I wouldnt go as far as pulling the dash and taking the evap core, just all the crap you can see.
