my set up

ok so im a noob when it comes to turbos set ups, but i recently purchased one. i have a stock gsr swap with spoon itr pistons and will be using this set up. Should i get rid of the itr pistons for something with lower compression (the motor is already apart and going to recieve a fresh rebuild) or would using them be ok with 10-12 psi. i plan on chipping the ecu and using dsm 450cc's. im looking to make this a fairly reliable daily driver. anyone have opinions on the set up. Anyone using the same stuff? iF so how you like it? What kind of hp numbers should i be expecting?

heres the link for the set up

what comp do itr pistons make? isn't it something disgusting like 11:1 or 12:1? yeah waayyyy too high for boost unless you got some race fuel or 98 octane lying around

Re: my set up

the compression ratio on your ---- is about 11:1 so its not realy going to be a great idea to boost it

it has been done but you need some one who knows there ---- when it comes to setting the timing on that or its going to fall apart quick

with a good tune they have pushed damn near 280 whp on 10psi but i realy wouldnt trust it to last long i dont see how the stock ringlands could hold that kind of abuse for a long time

if its getting rebulit just drop an extra 400 or so in it get eagle rods and trade your p73 pistons for p72 pistons

just the way i think. some might say boost it as is. either way should be fun and the 450s should be fine for the boost you plan on running

oh yeah i forgot to say i was planning 6-8 psi on daily driving and 10-12 on track days or whenever i feel spunky.

Since the engine is apart, get forged pistons. You might have certain psi as your goal now, but as soon as you start boosting you are going to want more. Build it now if you can.

Re: my set up

the goal is to be as cheap as possible (kinda the reason im on here) so forged is out of the question. Would say lower comp. stock honda pistons/rods not hold up with 10 psi?

Re: my set up

cheap as pos = extra boost and a blown engine, trust me

Re: my set up

If you went through the trouble of taking the engine apart. Go with forged internals, put it on a credit card if you have to. But do not rebuild with factory rods and pistons.

Re: my set up

what psi is safe with stock internals?

Re: my set up

thats not the point!

once installed and running good you will say hey y not 2 more psi still god.... y not 2 more? and in the end caboom just because you where a tight ass and didnt just wait and spend the 300 to reinforce your setup
