my mechanical oil pressure gauge sometimes reads up to 87 psi. it's attached with a 1/8" nylon tube to the back of the block where the turbo lines tap in. i know the oil pressure at the turbo is supposed to be 70 psi max... so is my gauge an accurate reading of that? should i find some way to lower my oil pressure? or change oil type? i run 10w30 mobil 1 right now...

any advice would be appreciated.

I adjust mine with a Stevemode ball valve..........but yeah 87 is a bit high

edit- when are you seeing 87 psi of oil?

when my car first starts i see around 70 to 80 psi depending how cold out it is. otherwise i see the maximum psi when i'm gunning it in 3 gear or higher.

I see the same amount with cold start and idle at about 15-20psi

Youve only got 8psi at idle when warmed up? Thats pretty ------- low dude, oil light comes on with under 4.5 and serious damage goes on then, ask my motor how I know

87 is sky high, 70psi at the turbo will kill it quick, 8 psi at idle aint great

Would there be a difference between the oil pressure the turbo is getting and what his gauge is reading from the block?

it would be depending if there is a restrictor and where the t-off to the gauge is placed.

either way 87psi is too freaken high. Give stealthmode business!
