Re: my new turbo came in
Um...yeah. ::)
|
Re: my new turbo came in
what? im excited and i just posted pictures of my new turbo. something wrong with that?
|
Re: my new turbo came in
nope thats perfectly fine....
but that turbo is not sized right for your app (IMO)...think thats the rolling eyes... |
Re: my new turbo came in
sized perfect. it will reach full boost before 3500rpm and pull until redline. its the same turbo the guy selling it uses on his h22 prelude and hes running like 27psi through it no problem.
|
Re: my new turbo came in
well i guess what works for you and what works for me is different then...i dont want boost till 5000...
|
Re: my new turbo came in
haha, ya everyone is different. no boost until 5000 is a little extreme isn't it?
anyways i will keep you guys updated on my progress. should be done by the end of next month :) |
Re: my new turbo came in
If you dont mind me asking, what did it run you? (US$)

Re: my new turbo came in
amen, i wasnt getting full boost until 5600
but that was 22 psi worth |
Re: my new turbo came in
so do you have anything else pieced together or just getting the turbo first.
|
Re: my new turbo came in
The ::) was because its a turbo. We see lots of them. If you wanna make a post about putting it on, pictures of all the parts combined, or need help thats cool. You got a turbo, thats nice.

Re: my new turbo came in
Kid's just excited. I know I would be.
|
Re: my new turbo came in
i don't have any other parts as of yet but i am picking up dsm 450's either today or tomorrow and im ordering my manifold monday. after that i wil order the intercooler, oil lines, piping, BOV, wastegate, etc all at once. this is my first setup so im just anxious to get it done.
|
Re: my new turbo came in
That turbo will not pull till redline making good power.. I dont care who has it.. 27 psi would "feel" like its pulling to redline. but put it on a dyno and it wont be, and it sure in hell at27 psi wont be putting down much over 400 if at all. we put the BIGGEST sc61 they sell on my friends BONE STOCK h22 and made 400whp @ 19psi on pump gas full boost by 4000 rpms. reving it out to 7800 (stock motor even valvetrain)
|
Re: my new turbo came in
im only looking at going 7psi on it on stock internals. it should pull decent. i can't see why it wouldn't pull till 7000rpm looking at the numbers. . when do you think it would run out of breath?
|
Re: my new turbo came in
lol for your goals i think your got the right turbo. i dont know as much as far as how much some of these turbos can flow. but 7psi now is perfect and has some room for later down the road. and i mean when you start to get into the turbo thing and sleeve your engine and replace your internals and valve train to rev past 9k. then you can upgrade your turbo to something thats giong to flow 30psi in your engine for now i wouldnt worry about it.

Re: my new turbo came in
seems a little small for an H22 IMO
|
Re: my new turbo came in
So its an IHI...AND a borg warner....AND a t3/t04e (which usually implies garrett or turbonetics).
Man I'm lost. Looks like a chinese turbo more than any of what you listed. ching chong meow. |

Re: my new turbo came in
are those the stock specs (trim, etc) for those turbos? i never really tried looking into them, i just slapped it on

Re: my new turbo came in
I tuned the Blaast car. First time we went out the oil restrictor was too small so it burned the bushings. Didn`t seem to spool so well. In about an our we had the turbo off and apart. He rebuilt it and balanced the centre section and the turbine side was still hot by the time it was being re-assembled! There is a guy who can build a turbo!
The car came on to boost very solidyly around 3500. Pulled very well into the 22PSI range. I was afraid to crank the boost too much based on the fact it was only pump gas. I drove it a few times after the tune as well. Behaved very nicely as a big turbo H22 car. You could still live with the lag and it pulled like mad all the way to redline. -Michael |
Re: my new turbo came in
cool turbo man.. i just got my turbo (a custom T3 unit) so i totally understand your excitement..
i just dont get why people think that everyone should have a turbo that doesnt get full boost till 5k... not flaming you guys who think that way.. i just dont understand.. each person has his own ideas how he wants his car to respond.. i chose my turbo based on how far i plan on revving, the type of driving i'm doing, and fun factor. i'm running a stock LS motor, revving to 6500 max.. so i chose a T3 .48 turbine so i get super quick spool.. this is my daily driver and i'm not going to do much drag racing on it.. maybe a couple times just to see what it'll do but i'm building this for fun.. not a full on drag car.. it has an AirResearch T3 .60 compressor housing and a T04B M-Trim compressor wheel machined to fit as well as machining on the housing.. Charlie at Evergreen Turbo who built it for me says it flows enough at 14psi to do 300 whp. we'll see.. i'll be running at about 10 psi for a while.. anyway, point is, there is a huge variety of goals for a turbo setup.. to each his own! |
