My homemade turbo'd 1994 Mazda MX-3 V6 PICS... round 2

Re: My homemade turbo'd 1994 Mazda MX-3 V6 PICS... round 2
For the money I have into this car, I can't complain by any means. At first I wasn't crazy about the car but it really has grown on me. The other day someone asked me if I could have any car what I would want... and I said I already have it.
Bought it for $375 with a thrown rod
My intentions started as just putting in a new motor. THen I realized what the hell, i have a spare y pipe and practically all the parts to do a turbo kit... I'll build a simple one. Next thing I know it spirals out of control and here I am building a motor and trying to find a way to get the power to the ground
Sadly, the car isn't a daily driver anymore, not reliable enough and always under the knife for more mods. It is still a full street car though, sporting a stock suspension, full interior, etc. I really like the feel of it stock and didn't want to compromise that to "go fast"
For fuel management, I am running megasquirt'n'spark with redtop 270cc nissan sidefeed injectors. I dremeled off the tips of them to make them flow 550cc (nice double flow, can you say FREE? )
Last time I weighed it it came in at 2640 lbs no driver. Pretty light indeed...
I can't say enough about the KL V6 motors, they are one sweet powerplant with boost. Anyone out there who has a PGT/MX6/MX3 v6, trust me turboing it is worth your while.
As of now it's boosting 15 psi.
Maybe I could add this car to the projects? I could do a good write up, and have quite a few pics of both the turbo kits I've built

I dont use h20 injection anymore. With the intercooler my charge temps stay about 100 degrees.
On the old turbo with a 400cc water nozzle I'd get my charge temps down to around 130 degrees on 10 psi. Not bad for no intercooler. Without spraying I'd have detonation and theyd be around 230 degrees.
I turned it up to 17 psi on the old turbo, no intercooler and same 400cc nozzle. Charge temps went to my IAT max, which is 260 degrees F. I imagine with a smaller nozzle I could have got them back down, but the h20 takes the place of air and fuel and in the end you'll lose more power than a proper intercooled setup. It was good for low boost though. I would guess too I pushed that little t3/t04b out of its efficiency at the higher boost levels, thus making it even worse.
How I set it up was used a windshield washer pump with a home depot sprinkler mister nozzle. Turned it on with a hobbs at 6 psi.
Yes, stock junkyard engine. This motor has 150k miles on it, 20k boosted.

well im thinking about running my stock engine accord to maybe even more boost on a real water injection setup to cope with the pump gas... not sure if its a good idea though. Ive been running 13psi-13.5 psi on some 110oct and 93 oct mixed in (id say its still around 100 oct) but i wanna get away from race gas and run methanol/water...

hey i saw that on PT today too...
- im in the process myself... but im alittle worried on making the hotpipes since im no welder...but your setup looks fairly simple... and im probably going to use your pic to model mine from!
- so is that a kl03 with a ze/millenia curved neck manifold am i correct?
*mad props!*
15 psi on stock internals is insane... i been reading up on boosting KLs alot and ill i've heard is it can take 14psi... and the highest anyone has seen was 12...

Back a few months ago people said the highest the KL would take on stock internals was high 200 hp, then low 300, now it's pretty much in the 400's range.
Whats more important that "PSI" per say is how much HP you're making.... and tuning is the only way to do so even remotely close to reliably
