Re:my HMT crx pics
Thanks, dash is from 94+ integra. I was doing an aluminum dash, but it looked kinda cheesy and I got a good deal on this teg dash ($20 cause it was tan, $10 for black vinyl paint). Aluminum inserts were pretty easy, although the gauge panel was a little difficult to bend to shape. And i don't like the angle of the guages, so I might be modifying it a bit. Just finished those the other night.

Re:my HMT crx pics
wow now thats a ballin' setup....any specs? 8)

Re:my HMT crx pics
SWEEEET ;D. Looks very good ;).

Re:my HMT crx pics
i like those door panels. it all looks very well thought out. nice work.

Re:my HMT crx pics
Definately gets an A in my book. It's going to be a sweet car to play around with. Is there a gap in between where the wastegate bolts up? I'd be careful of that... Maybe get a gasket or something to seal it up. And, in the rear of your sideskirt's thats where your exhaust will be exiting right? Thats pretty creative and ought to save some weight.

Re:my HMT crx pics
Yeah, in that pic, I was just test fitting. There are now gaskets between all the flanges and everything is tightened up. Yeah the exhuast is coming out the side. Its all 3" from the turbo, and at the exit the tube is transitioned into rectangular shape to help clear the frame rail. The car hasn't left the garage in 4 years. It began with a simple b16a swap with full interior, but I then had a change of heart. I've been in college the last 4 years, so the whole time just worked on it during the summers when I came home to work. I'm finishing up a summer/fall coop at Rockwell Collins this December and then have 1 semester left at Iowa State University in electrical engineering. Not sure what will happen afterwords, either Minneapolis, socal, Cedar Rapids, or Chicago. So sometime soon I will have a nice steady income and can finish up things i've put off brakes/suspension/bottom end.
Specs: B16a stock engine t3/t04e 48/54 255 lph fuel pump 1/2" fuel line 12g fuel cell autometer inline filter aem rail knockoff adj fpr w/guage tial wg & bov converted to obd1 dsm 450cc injectors chipped p28 msd ign & coil 5g civic rad and FAL fan ... will be running 9 lbs until next summer when I put in refreshed block with sleeves/9.0-1 pistons/rods Then probably 15-20 lbs. Currently working on fabbing some custom linear actuators for an automated moveable rear spoiler sysyem. Designing an full underbody aero system. Some things to come in the near future. |
Re:my HMT crx pics
Wow, that car looks really good man. I especially like the exhaust exit... and how clean it is. Nice integra dash swap as well. Hope all is well when you get finished! ;D

Re:my HMT crx pics
Wow, I really like it, I use to have the same exact mani along time ago on one of my setups. The GSR dash board.. very cool, front cross member badass. Things that are not so cool, I'd really get rid of the Starion intercooler, yes its modified, but those cores flow like ---- compared to others on the market, and from what it looks like it seems you are going for big #'s.. I'm sure you plan on upgrading later. So I'll stfu, Also I'd probably round off the corners on that downpipe flange, it kinda looks hackish square.
Overall, I think your going to have a badass machine when shes all done, especially when its built! good luck, and we'd love to see more pics. |
Re:my HMT crx pics
Yeah, i think you recommended that manifold right after you got it, so i've had it sittin around since then. I got the IC for like $40, so i'm going to stick with if for now. I think one of the nice things is that is allows for very short charge pipes and should help drop spool time. Like you say, once i just up with more power I will probably drop in another one. It will probably have to be custom with the way I have the mounting points. I really don't want the pipes running outside of the frame rails, just adds so much more volume to the system. Yeah I made that flange out of 3/8", and I didn't take the time to do the edges and i think i probably will leave it that way. I've been working on some wiring behind the dash over the weekend and might have things ready to tomarrow.

Re:my HMT crx pics
on an interior pic i didnt see a clutch pedal ?? is it taken out or covered by all the electrical.. please dont tell me its an automatic.. over all a pretty sweet setup
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
yeah i converted it from manual to auto because i'm really too lazy to do all that work to shift, plus i don't know how to drive stick....
j/k, its probably hidden behind the mass of wires and fuse panel. haha, whats the fun of a automatic? |
Re:my HMT crx pics
thumbs up

Re:my HMT crx pics
Very nice. The way you did the sheet gauge cluster is sweet. ;)

Re:my HMT crx pics
damn, thats one clean CRX. Makes my CRX looks bad. ;)

I have a similar exhaust setup, but with no cat and an inline cherrybomb. I am warning you it's very loud. Otherwise your setup looks sweet. |
Re:my HMT crx pics
thats a mean lookin crx, nice job, it would be cool to see a vid of it runnin if possible ;D
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
Wow that ---- is nice. I'm guessing this isn't your daily driver?
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
Sweet CRX.....good pipe work, Welds look good to. Did you just use regular black paint for the piping?
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
Very cool. Good luck finishing the project.
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
Holy ---- balls. I can tell you've put some serious time and thought into your project. Looks great. I like the merged WG to DP.

Re:my HMT crx pics
so is it a automatic er no ?

Re:my HMT crx pics
haha, no its a stick. The downpipe and tailpipe were ceramic coated. I bought the stuff from:
http://www.techlinecoatings.com/BulkExhaust.htm Bake at 300 degrees for an hour to do a pre cure, and once you run the car, it will fully cure with exhaust temps. It was about $60 for 12oz which was plenty and have a lot left. The main section of the exhuast was just painted with high temp exhuast paint. I tacked everything up and had my buddy finish all the welds. He is certified with countless types, and has about 25 years under his belt. He did a great job on the downpipe, and his welding on the IC was great as well. The car is not a daily driver, and at this point not really sure what it is. I had originally wanted to put it into the scca when started 4 years ago, but the urge to transplant B and turbo overcame that. I may still be able to enter it for exibition events. As soon as the car is running I have 2 things planned to keep me busy. First I am designing a full underbody aero system with the help of a Aero Engineer grad that was in my fraternity. And secondly, i'm designing a custom servo driven linear actuator for a automated rear spoiler system to adjust rear downforce with speed and cornering. I should hopefully have that done within the next year. |
Re:my HMT crx pics
very nice, and i like how you did the IC piping
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
might wanna buy a b18 block and start buildin.. that b16 wont last too long w/ it's stock bottom end and that t3/t04 :o
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
Wow, thats all I can say, love the charge pipe route. Very innovative.
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
nice fab work. like the side exhaust and the modified end tanks on the ic. good work
|
Re:my HMT crx pics
I am pretty confident the b16a block will last as long as I use it with 8-9 lbs boost. The reason you see blown up blocks with boost is the retarts that are running fmu's and don't know how to tune a engine. I'm not coming into this blind, and I know what it will take to run detonation free. With planning and knowledge, anything can be done. But like I said I am going to sleeve a block in the next 2 years, but that is for running up to 20 lbs. And with that, I will be upgrading other components as well to hold 350+ hp.
