Default My first turbo, 85 300zx ...

Anywho. I finnaly finished my turbo. I used a holset hx35 turbo, stock 85 turbo computer from another 300zx, stock turbo injectors, ***** waste gate, intercooler, bov...
Spent like, 100$ on mandrel bent steel for the IC piping, another 50 on piping for the exhaust. 3" with a magnaflow muffler eventually.
Everything went together beautifully. I didn't want to just do a swap. I didn't want the stock turbo set up. I wanted something different. Something with lee way towards upgrades. So that is why I did what I did. plus it looks cool seeing the turbo plain as day.

Fucken feels awesome! I'm only running 5psi right now until I get my boost controller. I know you'll all go "ugh, dont be a fucken ----- and go for ten" But, the 260cc injectors are only good for maybe 250hp(so I read). So I will hike up my fuel pressure and see how close to that I can get. Eventually I want to buy another vg30 engine and lower the compression and build a semi turbo friendly engine with bigger injectors/fuel managment etc.

But for now, 9.1-1 compression with boost feels fucken awesome!

I know most of you ******* hate z31's. I can empathize, it is an ugly, over weight car. But I dont know. The more I play with it over the years, the more I like it. And now I might not be embarassed by its power.

I have some tuning to do yet. And eventually I'll have a clutch to replace. I would have done that right now. But seeing as how I JUST replaced this clutch. I feel it is my duty to burn it out before removing it.

feels great though. I've never driven a turbo charged car before. Tonight was the first time. I'm only running 5psi until I get my boost controller. But even at that level it feels incredible compared to its sloppy weak N/A ***...I like.

What do you think?

---- looks pretty good. That CR isn't that high even. Just crank up the boost to get the most out of that turbo.

U did the right thing by fitting a much larger turbo to that engine...I don't understand why they put such a small turbo on a high displacement V6 engine...I have one of the stock turbo's for my car and everybody is tellin' how it's waaay too small, and that's for a 2.5 4 cyl....anyways, looks boss man..

Thanks for the replies. Here is a small vid I took with a shitty camera.

Can't hear the bov or turbo over the straight pipe though heh. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c173/1chronicpls/?action=view&current=MOV04982.flv

I wasn't pushing it or anything...so the video is pretty well just bullshit. But what ever. Shows the car rolling at least.

As for a kit, oh ---- no! greddy and some other companies used to make different manifolds for these cars keeping the turbo in the stock location. But those haven't been in production for years.

These are bastard cars remember. No body cares about them.
You can go to the junk yard, remove all the ---- you need from a turbo to convert your car to a stock turbo set up. Or you can do what I did and go a different route.
I didn't want to put the turbo in its stock location as I didn't want to relocate a bunch of ----. So, I just removed my ac and decided that was a good spot.
