hey i have been haning around this board for a long time and just havn't made many posts. but i figured that i would post up my build. what i have so far.

del sol with a D16

i/c piping
jrc f/m intercooler
dsm bov and greddy type rs bov (havn't welded the flang on the i/c piping yet)
dsm 450cc injectors w/ resistor box
a/c compatible manifold
down pipe
wrx td04l turbo
6 puck clutch
i think its a 2an oil line i have, i bought it from someone a while ago. do i need a restrictor for it? some poeple have said no and some people have said yes, sommething about like a sorta built in restrictor? well for this paticular turbo anyway.

this is all going on a D16z6 block with 60k on it. here are some pics of the engine, turbo, and mani

so i guess i should get a new map sensor so i can run over 11.5 lbs of boost or whatever honda maps read to. my goal is 200whp and over. do you guys think i can make a solid 200 whp running 10-14 psi? what head gasket should i use? or will the oem replacement be alright. and i am pretty sure the stock internals will hold up alright, what do you guys think? and also what boost controler do you guys recomend for minimal spikes? i have seen that a few people on here are running setups similar to mine. any help or tips would be great.

Hum... I don't think you'll go fast without a car with that setup.

What do you expect by posting this?

Try at least to make the thread interesting!

sorry i accidentaly posted that before i was finished :S

Such a wonderful manifold deserves something more than a mere tdo4l. Step up to the plate nog.

Post porn too, ok.

Re: my first setup

That's better :P

Your manifold is cool, where did you get it? Built it yourself?

Re: my first build

yeah i really wanted a t3, but the flang was already welded to the mani. also i think this turbo should be good for 200 whp (i am running stock internals on this motor) so i dono if i will need something to much bigger until i start building my other engine . but if someone wants to send a good deal on a t3 this way i might change my mind. i can't the computer i am on has a bunch of blocker crap on it. no i didn't build it i got it form damien at omen speed works. he's got a web site (omenspeedworks.com) it was a pretty good deal to. the only thing is it took a friggen looooooong time to get it as in like a year, long story. he is a little over run.

Re: my first build

youre gonna need a 4" exhaust dumping out the hood to make that turbo fun

Re: my first build

if i were you i would replace that water pump while its out of the car

ds0440 10-24-2008 01:03 AM

Re: my first build

yeah i was planning on doing a water pump and timing belt change. the oil pump should be good for a while right? i havn't dropped the pan yet to check for any crap down there but it should be good. the owner took good care of this motor.

Re: my first build

so if i just pick up some arp head bolts. i should be good to run 10-14 pounds right? o and a new map sensor.

Sure

Its not the psi that kills your motor.

i think he is saying if he puts in a new map and some arp's he will be fine for the hp level 10-14 pounds would give him

ds0440 10-24-2008 03:18 PM

Re: my first build

yeah i know it is more about the whp levels, but i was not sure if more psi from a smaller turbo would add extra stress.

tell me what you guys think of this pcv system. i think i saw one like it on here or some other turbo forum.

Attachment 13589

the velocity of the exhaust should create vacume in the metal tube wich is connected to the rubber lines connected to the pcv stuff. going through the exhaust would eliminate the need for a catch can (i think). i would use the anti backfire valve from an air injection system to prevent exhaust from flowing back into the motor. it would almost have constant vacume. and should be cheap and easy.

I'll save you before anyone else sees this and tears you a new one. The downpipe will have positive pressure. Lots of it. You dont want to do this. Even though there is high velocity flow there is still plenty of residual pressure. Instead of sourcing vacuum on the downpipe you can source your vacuum from the turbo compressor inlet(essentially before the turbo, post filter).
If i were you id save myself the headache and just make a el cheapo catch can out of a water bottle OR if your really want to make it easy just vent it to the atmoshpere.

your wrong it is called a slash cut look it up he has the right idea. the air flowing past the tube will create create a vacuum and that way you odont end up with oil or residue in the turbo or intake piping

Re: my first build

yeah, dont put that ---- on your turbo inlet, it will suck in a bunch of shitty air.

run the slash cut, that other guy dont know what hes talking about.

and get a bigger turbo, you going to hate that tiny turd.
