My find==Saab

I found a 85 Saab 900 with a turbo and intercooler. Will these be good parts for my Homadeturbo setup on a D16? Any other parts I should grab off this donor car?

get the turbo, intercooler, blow off valve, fuel pump, and all the turbo charge pipping. see if you can get the turbo oil feed line too, along with any fitting the oil pan may have for the oil return.

yea get the turbo IC and piping and bov. the oil lines on it are pretty usless. they are solid metal ones and your better off getting a kit form stealthmode. you can cut the drain line off about and inch or so before the turbo and use it as an extra drain flange. the trannys on those cars were mounted right under the oil pan. its really wierd..they are pretty shitty too i blew mine up on my 85 saab with about 15psi. then i took the turbo ic and piping and what not and pieced together my first HMT kit. you got a good start with the parts listed above

Fuel pump? I was planning on a walbol 255. I didn't see the blow off valve. Where is it? Is this a good turbo to use? it looks like it feeds in sideway?

I would take the turbo(t3 right, if so, perfect start!) and piping, any thing else would be to ghetto to deal with(oil lines)!!

Fuel Pump? Would it fit, You can get a Walbro, depending one management you are using. Many guys(Like me) use stockers with no problem.

Intercooler, What size is it. Are those the HUGE thin ones, or am I confused with Volvo? Depends on the size of the intercooler whether you get it or not.

the only saab i have messed with had the big radiator sized ic, looked to big for a honda application. and the bov was mounted on the intake tube for the turbo,it was plastic and im guessing it was a diverter/bypass style bov.

the intercooler is a side mount and its abou 12 by 12 inches. perfect size. and the turbo is gonna have to be clocked so that the exhuast flange sits vertical in your car. i know that saab but the turbo out in front of the motor for some reason, but it only takes losening a few bolts spining the housings and your set.

I think your talking about the Saab Blackstone with the engine that's mounted like a RWD engine would be but's still FWD. Those SMIC are pretty nice but those endtanks your gonna have to mod cause I couldn't figure out how to keep them the way they are and have it work. Are the fuel pumps actually worth grabbing out of those things? Now for those FMIC those things are kinda worthless being so big and so thin that you'd really have to chop it up to make it useable. Alot of people actually use those bosch BOV that come stock on those saabs. They may look cheap plastic POS but they work and do the job for how cheap you can get them new for.

Re:My find==Saab

Yes it is mounted like a rear wheel drive. I can get the turbo for 60 bucks and the intercooler for 40. Plus he'll let me take whatever else on the car I want. Is it worth taking the intercooler? Should hold out for something else? I think I know where I can get a starion for 40 bucks. Or I could sell some junk off on ebay and pick up a johnnyracecar one. Thanks for all the help.
