Your downpipe doesn't match up to what? Your turbo or your exhaust?

If it doesn't match up to your turbo then you need to buy a different flange and get that welded on the downpipe. If it doesn't match up to the exahust, then you are cool to drive it to an exhaust shop or whatever to have it fixed.

Oh, and turn caps lock off ;)

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

it doesnt want to fit on my turbo........i have the turbo set up already oon the manifold and when i went to put the downpipe it is a 4bolt but it looks all crazy like its gonna hit the block . its not mounted on the car yet im just saying i know when i go mount it is not gonna olt up to the turbo....only one fits......can i stil drive to the shop so they can weld that bitch on?

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

you could no problem, just remember ull have no boost / spooling and it will be loud as fudge

scarface50370 07-14-2005 01:12 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

so i wont have any boost????? what if all my intercooler pipes are set up??? any suggestions on what i can do so i dont have to drive up and get a ticket.?? i figure i must cut the flage off and line it up the right way then weld it back again but how the hell should i know the angle?

Ayeso 07-14-2005 01:18 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

line it up lol. Yeah wait.. this is the DP, ok youll have boost but it will just be very very loud and will spool fast. cause there is no restriction.

scarface50370 07-14-2005 01:22 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

yeah i figured i should still have boost but then again it will be loud. well one bolt i think i cant get on it then i could rotate it till it ligns up with the catalytic then tighten that one bolt. dam is a mission when i bought it it said it would fit my car.

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

heh, you may find having no exhaust connected is better then actually having the exhaust... lol. Power faster then with it.

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

which part doesnt line up, the DP --> CAT or the Turbo --> DP?

scarface50370 07-14-2005 01:27 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

if i bolt the downpipe on the turbo it looks like is gonna hit the block...so then i try unbolting it and bolting it so it looks down and it looks like itll hit the floor. i can however bolt it on to my ca i think. but then ht eonly prblem is it wont bolt on my turbo becauce the 4 bolts are off.

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

Sounds like its a DP for ur car and turbo but maybe ur manifold is different which would cause it to be a bit off. Best bet is to cut it and reweld it.

scarface50370 07-14-2005 01:41 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

right but how can i get it to the shop then?????? i have no tools to do this.....can i weld it myself?
?

Man Newbs helping Newbs.

Just baby it to an exhuast shop. Hopefully one is close and you don't melt any under hood components. Take her easy don't rev her out so you don't make too much noise. do it early afternnon, when everyone is at work or so. You will make boost as long at the wastegate flapper isn't on the DP like a ford T3 or so.

What type of turbo? Where did you buy all this stuff, and from whom?

yeah im new here and i had no clue. well the wastegate is external on the turbo manifold. i jus dont wanna turn on the car with no pipe connected to the part where the exaust maifold pipe should go on.

Not banging you for being a newb, just as long as you don't ask 100 stupid questions. Don't be afraid to start it with no DP on. 9tray turbo ran his to the HMT ontario meet with no DP so Weir could fab one for him. He had about a 25-30min drive down the freeway I think.

What are you going to do about your O2 sensor if you drive without a downpipe?

I guess you could run it in open loop if you are tuned for it.

I don't know what I would do, I guess drive it if you must, but it's going to be super loud.

scarface50370 07-14-2005 02:45 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

WOW!!!! Thats no problem about the beginner sthing. Well i dont inted to drive that long. so your saying is tinstead of installing just dangeling there collecting osme exhaust i mind as well just leave it like that and drive to the shop??????

koreanwilcox 07-14-2005 04:48 PM

Re: My downpie doesnt match up!!!!!1

Where on your downpipe is the o2 sensor bung located?

If it's towards the top, I would just hack off the downpipe right after the sensor and drive like that to the exhuast shop, then have them fix it up for you...
