My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

Ok, finally took few pics of my setup.
Well, here's setup:
D14A4 engine (yup.. European Honda Civic 1.4iS year 97 - stock is rated at 90HP).
Garrett T2
IC
Vortech FMU 10:1 + inline fuel pump
Forge VTA BOV
Gauges: bost, A/F, oil temp

Boost is set @7psi, although in 3rd/4th gear at 6500 I get boost creep to 8psi. Heh.. internal wastegate..

Ok, pics... (remeber, it was completed a week ago, and still didnt have time to finish it - repaint charge pipes, etc...)

Well, IC is rather small compared to some ;) but for my application it's enuff (low boost - <8psi).
I payed it ~40US$.

nice nice
how is the AFR ?
does boost engage fluently or does it kick in?
when will u do a dyno run?

congratulation for the good work, turbo are complicated to mount with air conditioning. no place for the charge pipes...

ANyway enjoy and dont blow :P

Do you also want him to install it for you? ::)

Re:My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

Dunno about AFR... although A/F meter reads rich. Still waiting to go do dyno to get some numbers. Why I'm waiting so long? Cause SOB's here want an arm and leg in Croatia for dyno run, but in nearby Slovenia is cheaper. But, guy from there said they are gonna organize dyno day in a week or two, so waiting for that - even more cheaper ;D

As for boost kicking in... no kick! It's completely smooth! Really luv it! Especially torque that my car has now compared to before.

When I started this project I didn't expect miracles.. all I wanted was like 30HP more. But in the end... it works much much better than I imagined ;D

However.. remember this is 1.4 engine.. so don't expect 200+whp numbers ;)

As for intercooler - it comes from Opel Astra TDI (I doubt you have that in US)

That looks really nice man,

is there any laws or any restrictions at all over their about that kind of stuff?

Nick7 02-04-2004 02:10 AM

Re:My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

As for laws... not really. Important is only to pass registration every year.
But... you can always pass that if you 'know' someone ;D

nice little setup! I reccomend getting a little paint on those charge pipes so they dont get all rusty and crusty.

Heheh... true, little setup 8)
Yup, I plan on doing that ASAP.
But 1st I'll brush parts where they were welded, so it looks a little more smooth, and than paint 'em.
Will look much better than :)

dyno days are good.
In poland you can get 30min dyno @ a dyno day for 12EURO
Is it cheaper in slovenia? or Croatia?

http://www.promotormocy.pl/foto/hondatvsna.jpg
look thats the dyno run form my friend
d14z2 90 stock HP
with kkk03 turbo
280cc injectors
bigger fuel pump
Vafc
BOV
FMI

not too bad 8)

fuel comsumptions is ok and engine aint blowing ;D

Bobohc3d 02-04-2004 04:13 PM

Re:My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

i hope you'll do better ;)

Re:My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

Nice dude!!! :) :) :)

Torque really got some kick :)
How many psi? Using intercooler?

As for fuel consumption.. my car now uses *less* 1liter per 100km than before!

And for dyno.. they want 500HRK (about 80US$ or 65EUR) for 2 stinky runs!!!
In Slovenia it's somewhat cheaper.. they said it'll be like 25EUR on dyno day. So waiting as it should be soon (at least they said they gonna organise is soon).

Are these corrected numbers or wheel hp? From what car is the K03 from? I got mine from an 180 hp Audi 1.8T.

I like it, its clean!

most kkk are VAG (volskwagen, Audi ) group
kkk k03 are 1.8T engine turbos, on some model it had 150HP or 180HP
But a k03 is a good turbo for stock car, not for performance.
It gives good torque but not enought Boost :)

Nick, all the info are written on the dyno sheet
it was 0.5Bar = 8psi
with a intercooler

Heh.. it said only 0.5, wo wasn't shure if that was it :)
How long has he been running turbo on his D14? Did he have any problems? Do you know if he touched timing?

I know, I know.. many questions - but you don't find another boosted D14 everyday ;D

So far.. I guess I'll have similar humbers... as it's approx same boost.

Bobohc3d 02-06-2004 02:34 PM

Re:My D14 setup - pics! (56k warning.. as usuall)

I dont know about the timing...
I dont see him much, but he is ok
however the car aint faster than a b16
but on the highway, maybe more elastic as you say

Shame you didnt weldet the charge pipes, by bending them they got thiner in the curve its a pitty.
thats how my friend did hes setup

Nice setup he got! Really looks nice!
Yep.. I know he (and myself) aint faster than b16...
Yesterday when I was coming home spotted a Clio Sort.. we dragged to some 140km/h - not much.. but untill that speed I was only like behind his rear bumper. There were 3 of them in car though - but that car has 170HP (I asked him when we stopped) - and thats what puts me also in that area of 130-140HP.
Well, I can't complain.. it goes better than I was planning to :) so I'm really happy :)

Tell yr friend he has a match now :D

The K03 is also found on the Audi V6 2.7T. I also think it's not exactly the same K03 on the 150 hp and 180 hp 1.8T. There have to be some differences.
