Its a T4E turbo, 46 trim and "0.50 to 0.70 a/r (configuration and A/R may vary depending on inventory)". I also can choose a .48 or .63 a/r turbine housing. Is there any way to tell how fast this ting will spool?

Don't get "Blaasted"....... do a search first before you buy from him and you'll see what I'm talking about

So I just finished mocking up a new exhaust. Got rid of the fartcan, and its pretty quiet too. Inspections on trackdays dont allow too much noise and screamer pipes, unfortunately. Got my new turbo too, a 46 trim t4/t04e with a small .48 a/r exhaust side. Only thing that sucks is that winter just arrived, and the roads probably wont be dry until april. >:(

I got the external wg too, my manifold starts to get pretty solid with welds going everywhere... It stopped cracking after I added the badass ssac-style brackets, btw. I couldnt find any flexpipes small enough to fit between te wg and dp, so I just welded it solid. You think the dump pipe is going to crack?? I wont get to test it hard before spring time again...

Fatty welds ftw O0

There is more rod than original material ;) Look good so far! If it cracks it will be on the down pipe, but the flexpile will take most of the load of the engine... Only baller use flexpipe on dumptube ;)

Re: My build, Q's, and NWS

The reason you want a flex pipe in the down tube before hooking it up to the down pipe, is because it easyer to line back up if you have to take it off.

So there's nothing to worry about uneven stretching between the dump pipe and the downpipe when things heat up and cools down? Well, thats good news :)

Time to pull the engine and get those vitaras's in, then...

your engine exhaust flange warped at all?

confUsed 11-09-2008 05:00 PM

Re: My build, Q's, and NWS

Nope

I tacked everything together and welded like 2-3cm on one runner, then went to the next runner. Went on like that until everything was welded together. Didnt even bolt it down, like I should have. But it turned out good anyway.

So, I figured I should update, now that all the legal ---- is done. Had to get the car through inspection to keep the plates, and it took forever! I even had to dyno the car @1 psi to get the "correct" power, lol. Its all good for a couple more years now ...

Got my car back last friday, so I started pulling out the engine...

Noone around here seems to have a engine lift, so I hade to borrow this insteda, worked out great

Attachment 10086

I even cleaned the block a little before I pulled it apart :p

Attachment 10087

The vitara's and custom length I-beam rods thats going in

Attachment 10088

Got the block back from machining yeaterday. I picked a 0,08mm p2w clearance, thats somewhere between 0.003 and 0.0035" I think... Hoping thats good for max 300whp.

Attachment 10089

Notching th block... Think this is enough? I tried to make it 1/4" up in the bore, 1/4" into the block and 3/4" wide like the article on the old one, but it was kinda hard to make decent marks, so I pretty much ended up eyeballing it.

Attachment 10090

The rings... Ring gap were way too tight (right one), somewhere around 0.010" so I made it twice as big (left). Took forever, and was the most boring thing I've done so far in this build.

Attachment 10091

So now I can start putting things together :)

If something soes not look right, please speak up, as I have close to none experience besides a stock rebuild.

Well, the engine is back in and still running... I took some pics during the build, so I'll just post them up.

First time notching...

Cheap style ring compressor. It works. (Yeah, the numbers I have written on the pistons are 1mm off :-[ )

All bearings came out on the loose side, just within specs. Thats a good thing, I hope?

Attachment 9271

I have no idea if it helps at all but I ported the sharp 90 degree turn out of the oil pump. I reused my old oil pump so didnt feel like filling the blind entrance behind the hex plug with epoxy.

I started running out of space on the back of my block when I got the oil cooler sandwich in place, so I made the "struttower remote mount kit" :p Was lucky enough to find everything I needed for it included the hydraulic hoses at work :)

Mfactoru lsd. The sellers at ebay loves to rip me off on shipping, so the price I paid for the mfactory diff wasnt that far away from what I would have paid for the obx, and witht the stories of the obx runout, the choice was pretty easy.

Motor going back in. Snow is still falling outside... >:(

Oil cooler mounted. The fittings were bigger than I first thought, so I had to move the radiator a bit to the middle to make space...

I hate this ------ snow, but at least I have lsd now, so I'm not getting stuck everywhere... Just waiting for it to melt now, and I'll take it to the tuner and hopefully hit the tracks. I'm just running the old map i made at the streets from last summer until then. The motor seems to work fine this far. ~200 miles on it, and the sound is still the same. Little more diesel'ish with the vitaras compared to stock, but I guess thats normal with these pistons... I'll find out during the spring/summer
