my buddy has a boosted ls and he has blown out like 2 charge pipe couplers what could be causeing this?

i'm assuming you're using worm clamps on piping that doesn't have bead rolled ends......tighten them down better and secure the piping more so it doesn't move or vibrate so much....

Put a tack weld or four on the end of each pipe, gives the clamp something to grab to.

well thanks for all the help guys im new to the whole turbo thing. now that you made me feel like an ass for trying to help him out i will just tell him to stop being a puss and tighten his ---- down better thanks lol

yeah i couldnt think of the name of it. well i he got pissed off and has decided to swap the ls into his eg hatch. i told him that everyone on hmt told him to tuck in his tampon string and tighten it down like a man.

my best result always came from painting the pipes

paint = sticky

Mix up a huge batch of JB weld and cover the pipes with it then put the coupler on and tighten the clamps, with the left over JB cover over the top of the couplers and pipes too :D

i used and adjustable wrench to bell the ends of the pipe a little bit. only needed to do it to the 2 pipes closest to the turbo outlet.

there are actually tears all the way around the coupler. so it isnt just coming off its actually ripping in half

loose the home depot couplers for anything close to the turbo. They get all hot and deform/tear/swell

its probably the binder rotor shaft, when those things ---- up the rebostat sends fucked up signals to your carb computer and everything starts to rip and come apart..... if you dont watch it your floorboards will sometimes even fall off :P

he isnt worried about it now, we are tearing apart his eg, so he doesnt have time to mess with it.

For my next setup I'm going to weld little tabs on either side of the charge pipe and use a nice bolt/bracket to make sure they never come apart.

that ---- is hot... but it kinda kills the sleeper appeal, it pretty much lets everyone know your running a ---- ton of boost >:D
