my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
well i am now officially boosting 8psi on a stock F22. her are some pics and some brief explinations to go along with it.
ill start with the parts: stock DSM manifold with redrilled mounting holes to fit the F22 http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture222.jpg DSM 450cc injectors http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture223.jpg TDO5h (14b) turbo. no shaft play, great condition. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture224.jpg Oil feed/drain kit from --------------------------- http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture221.jpg Mitsu. Starion Front mount Intercooler (works amazingly well) http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture274.jpg The first thing i did was drain the oil out of the engine completely. after as much of the oil was out of the engine as possible..i removed the oil pan to prep for the oil return line. i drilled a 5/8" hole, threaded the fitting into the pan and JB welded the ---- out of both sides. we put it aside to set overnight while we did the rest of the setup. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture245.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture254.jpg Next i took off the stock downpipe and exhaust headers. i also cut the exhaust right before the o2 sensor (EX location on the flex pipe) http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture228.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture253.jpg Its pretty nasty under there. but we cleaned it up and replaced the gasket next we did a turbo test fit. we bolted the turbo to the manifold and put the manifold up to the head. It turns out that you need to loose the front motor mount (which is known) however, you also have to grind away at the motor mount mounting holes because the turbo will not fit. We did this with a dye grinder and it finally fit really nicely. This is my buddy jeff pointing to his block grinding fury. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture255.jpg And all mounted up http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture263.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture257.jpg When everything finally fit nicely it was time to move on. I started on the charge piping. this was probably the most frustrating part of the whole setup and it still didnt come out like I wanted. I had a very limited selection of mandrel bends so i had to cut a lot of them and use a LOT of connectors (which are not cheap) anyway i finaly got it all done. i hope to eventually get this all redone and looking much nicer, but for now it works http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture273.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture269.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture298.jpg i ended up using my buddies stock 1g DSM BOV for now because mine had not arrived in the mail yet. ill have pics of my new one tommorow. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture249.jpg the last thing we did on the first day was the injectors. the DSM 450s work great in our cars. we are low impedinance peak and hold just like them so there is no resistor box needed. the only mod you have to do is drill out the center of the O rings a little to get it to fit. no big deal. a dremel works great I dont have a good pic of these but here they are anyway... http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture260.jpg The next day----------- the next day first on the list was the oil lines. The oil return was nice and cured and was sturdy as hell. JB weld works wonders. we put the pan back on and i connected the oil return line to the turbo and then to the pan (I need to cut a few inches of the oil return line to get the big curve out of it.) http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture271.jpg the oil feed was kinda a pain in the ass. its not an easy location to work but i took my time and finally got it all connected. I used the "tunertoys" fitting that came with my oil kit to T off the oil pressure sensor. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture270.jpg Now that all the hardware was installed (minus the downpipe) i started to wire up the peice of ---- SMC i have to use for the next week (until my ECU chipping stuff arrives) it works just like an AFC its just not as pretty http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture279.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture300.jpg once i got it running (which was a pain in the ass because it kept dieing on me) i brought it to my budd jeff's dad's midas and had the downpipe made off the stock DSM o2 housing.. his dad is the most awesome guy ever and made me my DP. thanks dad! http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture299.jpg These have been installed for months, but here is a pic of my guages http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture302.jpg some more overall shots http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture276.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture301.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture268.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture220.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture216.jpg I want to send a special thanks to all the people who helped me with the project: Valerie - the most amazing person on the planet who was always there for me when i needed her. she took out the oil pan, but it back in, went to the store for everylittle thing, spent just about as much as i did lol. and best of all didnt complain about it one bit. i love you hun and thanks for everything. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture251.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture258.jpg My best friend Jeff - For helping me out with everything and more so for letting me use his space, time, and tools. this would have not been possilble without him. this is the only pic i got of him...lol. yes thats me strataling him. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture243.jpg JEffs dad - for being awesome and letting me use his garage and for making my DP for nothing. hes the best. and last but not least a really wierd pic of me.. http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture250.jpg the next step is to clean the ---- out of EVERYTHING. the install came out really "dirty" if you will. so ill be cleaning and cleaning until its up to my standards. but at least its in, thats all i can say EDIT************** new intercooler, painted engine bay and new BOV! http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/Picture305.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~ndd3d/enginebay2.jpg |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
cant wait to get mine in!! lookin sweet eric!!! but you still need to run them coolant lines, new wires/1 or 2 step colder plugs....and get that chipped ecu in not that smc crap
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
you can say all that again...now comes all the little stuff like that. i just wanted to get it all in
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
thats why im gathering all my stuff at once...ive already had nology hot wires for like a year...got them for $20!! i couldnt pass up a deal like that...i just need the ngk bkr7e's and a trans cooler and my stuff can go in...since the shop is making the 2 remaining things i need (ic piping and downpipe)
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
looking good.
what does the T E P stand for that's on the face of the intercooler? |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
Top end performance...me and my friend started a tiny 2 man "shop" out of his garage installing aftermarket parts and thats what we called it.
come to find out there was already a top end performance in NY and in CA. oh well. its not like we are an established company or anything |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
Clean install. My cousin has a 93 Accord that we should (hopefully) be boosting soon, can't wait til we start.
Who's red Conquest was that, was that your girls? I almost bought one once, love those cars. Pretty quick. With the DSM manifold, did you just have to redrill them, or did you have them professionally redone? What exhaust do you have on it, from the downpipe back? Nice "Acclipse", btw ;) |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
just go buy a spare gasket for the header/head and put it up against the dsm manifold, line up most the holes and just use a machine drill/press or what not to "widen" the holes which should only be like 3 of them
|

Yea man you are freakin me out. Anyway... nice write up, i like the accord. Now all you need is a bigger exhaust and youll doing good. How loud is the DSM bov? |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
Nice pics&write up.
So you rip it hard yet? Hows it feel? |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**

Nice "Acclipse", btw ;) no thats not my girlfriends conquest. She drives an 02 spec-V. its my friend jeffs car. he bought it for $200 and took the turbo, intercooler and piping out of it for use in his integra. the car has no motor..blown balance shafts. but its for sale if anyone is interested ;D |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
yes eric you are a freaky lookin skinny white boi LOL anyways you said u drove it to work and let it rip...and pulled hard...of course harder than our stock engines LOL
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
yes it pulls pretty hard. im keeping it under 5lbs for now but still. its crazy. the only problem im having building boost is in first gear..i can only seem to squeeze like 1psi out of it. second and up is fine thouh...
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
congrats on such a great setup.......car looks nice turbo look good, and the FMIC acctually looks great (need a little straighting).
let us know how the dyno goes..... |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
yeh the fmic is a bit off center, but after you get the chipped ecu in instead of the smc and wideband tune it, then hopefully itll be fine overall...
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
i cant wait..i wish onyx's chips would get here already!!
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
your prob. spool'n a little slow b/c the puck on the wastegate isn't "FULLY" seated on the turbine housing. Of course, if you tighten the wastegate up, the peak boost will increase.
Looks good. I'll prob. do a simular accord project in the next year for a friend of mine. His auto accord LX is in the top 5 slowest cars I've ever driven, but its kinda quick on the nitrous I put in it. |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
Your girl's cute, but what makes her super duper hot is that she can work on cars, too! Nice setup all around!
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
That is sweet and like ^ said its noice that your girl can work on a car and enjoys what you like.noting like that :)
keep up the good wErk. |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
that shifter is outragously low it looks like a short shifter that you hacked to be even short.. and nice chess club shirt .. thats comedy !!

I take it you all like blue? I'm in the red gang but I won't shoot you this time because your car is turbo, but next time watch out.
|
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
heh, dont think I've ever seen so many hose clamps on one turbo project ;)
Looks good man, glad to see some accord HMT projects out! Jeff |
Re:my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
lol i know i need to find a way to reduce the clamps...hopefully i can have them custom made soon well see.

the kit looks freaking sexy. everything looks really good. i think if you upgraded your exhaust you'd probably spool up better in first. thats a small turbo and it should spool up quicker. but ya it looks really good. hmm i may consider boosting my accord now,,,,,,, |

sweet setup.. i can't wait to get my rex boosted..only a few more weeks... do you have to feel around in the shift boot to find your shift knob????
|
Re: my Acclipse lol. a few pics and comments on my install **56k warning**
hey hows the 8 pounds of boost holding up for you? Im going to do this install on my f22a1 1992 prelude, so hows ur engine management going to? I have the 13g td04 turbo from the autos, i might actually get a 14g td05 but im low budget right now, im looking in to actually get my ecu chipped and have everything running before summer ends im hoping if everything goes well , oh and considering your running 8 pounds of boost you didnt do any twecks with the actuator arm or spring to change the boost? cause i want to run about5-7 pounds
