to tell you the truth i think it might be the great grandfather of obd all together.
to my knowledge this is the first fuel injection engine honda ever made,.
bvut if im wrong someone please correct me. if i am than hopefully i have some more tuneing options

the prg-fi light is on the dash
there is however a window with four LEDs in it on the ecu. its a pain in the *** to read the codes off of becuas eits under the damn passenger seat.

and your iisue may be from the afc and the FMU combo...I dunno tho.
whne i b00sted my 87 teg (the d16a1 is a cousin of the ew engines also with vac advance) i too had to use an fmu...but things were fine (in and out of boost) so, i suspect the afc is the culprit.
