to much oil!!!!!!! ARG

k so just to start off, i decided to turbo my suzuki katana 600. Basicly everythings done, went with a KKK KP31 turbo from a smart car, so go out the next day, oil just everywhere, start it up. Oil spraying everywhere, in the end just picked up another one my buddy had for 100$. redid all the fab, start it. works great. decided to rev it. hit about 5k. oil starts coming out... basicly in the end i need to cut the oil press./flow down.... what size restrictor should i use?

journal bearing turbo use a 0.060" orifice.
roller bearing turbo use a 0.035" orifice.

make sure your turbo drain is gravity feeding otherwise you will need a scavenge pump. this will also cause excess oil leaking/burning from the turbo.

i have a scavenger pump on it. it runs great at idle, but as soon as im hittin 5/6K oil started coming out.....im sorry but i dont know if its a journal or a roller. could you tell me? and could you give me a link to where i can purchase these, i need a 1/8"

looks like its a journal.

mstngsrule68 02-22-2011 07:48 PM

also what does the restrictor drop it to.

busa4 02-23-2011 09:46 AM

there all over ebay. a .060" orifice should drop the oil pressure to ~15-25 psi.

mstngsrule68 02-23-2011 12:12 PM

ok, some guy on the smart car forum said .040"..... man this sucks lol

busa4 02-23-2011 03:44 PM

if its a journal bearing turbo use a flange with an orifice of 0.060". ive built many turbo cars and bikes and i always use a 0.060" orifice and have never had an issue.

ok thank you!, ill go though and upload my build for the bike so you can all see it. ill order that restrictor tonight, thanks!
