MSD6BTM

Just a question about this MSD product. Can it be set to retard the timing under boost automaticly, or is there a switch or knob involved? If so, how does it work alone? Thanks for any answers to a dumb question.

Re:MSD6BTM

You set the knob to how many degrees of you want it to retard per pound of boost from the physical ignition setting. You can set it from 1 to 3.

So, if you set it to 1, and you're boosting 10 poounds, and you have your car set at 16 degrees, when you get to full boost, the MSD would have retarded your ignition timing to 6 degrees.

Make sense?

you can get one for like $90. The 6BTM is an ignition too, so it cost a lot more money, but the regulur BTM can be bought a www.summitracing.com for under $90..

Re:MSD6BTM

I was under the impression that the BTM has to be used with an MSD iginition.

Are you suggesting that this can be used with a "stock" iginition setup (through your distributor or external coil)? ???

..because that would be cool..

Re:MSD6BTM

A knob is used to adjust the retard.

The BTM can be used with your stock ignition.
