motorcycle turbo build....

yes it all fits under fairings except the down pipe(side exhaust) and the air filter. if you dont like the side exitting exhaust then you can make a downpipe that adapts to your stock exhaust which will prevent the cutting of the right side fairing but no matter what the left side fairing will have to be cut for air filter clearence.

Gday busa4, love the build and respect for your knowledge of tuning,.I'm currently building an intercooled 98 750 SRAD Road Sleeper.Long way to go but all the heavy gear is there,. I'm only new to turbo's,but not to building motorcycles.Good to find topics like this...
and got any links to your previous bike builds ?
cheers

hello oz gsxr. welcome. glad your coming over to the dark side. people always think im crazy for turboing a bike. the hardest part is going to intercool the bike as there is not much room on a bike for an intercooler and still retain plastics. if your running low boost there is no need for an intercooler. if your running a modified low compression engine with high boost then i recommend meth injection or a water to air cooler as those systems are small enough to fit on a bike. i also thought about converting a gsxr radiator into an intercooler but i figured it wouldnt be efficient enough.
the other builds were from years back so i no longer have pics of them. good luck on your build.

Thanks mate,my set-up is a MCXpress header with 40mm Switzer turbo and American Turbo Systems cooler and low comp base plate, all made to suit my bike so cooler mounting wont be too hard...hopefully.I plan on running low comp and around 10PSI boost, although this set-up is capable of much higheer boost,it just wont be useable power without a longer swingarm,so hoping to get good results without meth injection. Its off a drag bike.Got a few mates here in Aus with turbo bikes/landspeed racers running up to 30PSI...and yes...they are definately crazy.Smokin a rear tyre at 250km/h with roll on throttle is indeed a sight to be seen.Only problem is they live too far away from me to help set-up my system...so i'm here to learn myself, although i'm quite dumb,so this may take a while.
anyhow, thanks for your input.I'll be starting a new thread with pics on my build soon, just gathering bits atm. Hopefully i'm not stepping on any toes here for being a bike builder instead of cars.
Cheers

The forum title says "HMT" not "HMT ExcludingBikes" anyone that say it should deserves a wide rear tyre over the chest

cooler would be nice but if your only building a low boost street bike then the money and time is not worth it. if your racing it then build away. i used the stock fuel pump, stock injectors, 1:1 boost reference fuel pressure regulator and a power commander 3r(the 3r model controls timing as well as fuel) for 6 pounds of boost. ive heard a lot of high boost bike builders use the megasquirt 2.0 with great results.
