Default more oil on a d16y-series engine

would it be a good idea to dremel out more of the oil pickup tube on the bottom where it sits below the oil level? my friend had the oil pickup tube done like this on the engine i bought from him, he had never used it this way but i was wondering... seems like it would flow more oil, but wouldnt it cause a drop in oil pressure, since the oil pump would have to pull suction off a larger surface area?

i think the pump will supply the same amount of pressure as long as the slot isnt ridiculously huge. i heard the y series had oil problems.. my buddy has a fully built y8 runnin 20lbs. and he kept spinning rod bearings. his engine would go to the machine shop like every other week. eventually he figured out the the oil holes in the crank are tiny as ---- compared to the z6 and not only that, the z6 ones were champhered to grab more oil for the bearings. i guess its more the crank than the oil pump/pickup

so should i enlarge the crank's oil holes?

theoldone.com has an article on porting out the oil pump and champfuring the bearings, look into that.

you can also convert to the z6 oil pump and oil pan. but then you lose your dipstick.
