More BOV vs MAF issues

On a draw through maf setup, the BOV cant be cracked at idle because of the vaccum leak havoc that would wreak, so I need to have the BOV closed at idle... when its closed, it doesnt blow off until like 3 psi, and the turbo chatters on shifts with light throttle. When I loosen it to the point that it opens at idle, it works fine. WTH should I do?

recirculate the bov back pre-turbo but after the maf like a dsm

how the hell do I recirc a bov that shoots air out all the sides?

Get a bov that doesn't shoot air out all the sides. Just a single opening like a Greddy Type S, Blitz (they have different attatchments you can bolt on). This is HMT, get creative. :6

look at a vw 1.8t setup, get a diverter from a awp motor or a 225 horse audi tt. the last 4 of the part number is 710n. they're cheap as ----, and mine held 22ish pounds for 100k miles. (still holding, as a matter of fact). the bottom tube just dumps back into the intake, after the maf. hog out a hole, and jb weld that bitch in.

use a dsm bov or three.

3k posts and you ask a n00b MAF question. :-[

If it leaks at any pressure, the same amount of air moving past the MAF is entering the engine. Basicly any air moving out the BOV to a point after the MAF stops that much air from entering the MAF. So if it doesn't enter the manifold, the maf doesn't inject fuel for it. Same for air leaking past it. The maf flows more air, so if adds more fuel.

I know recirculated BOV's are like rocket science to Honda people, but you'll have to trust me.

BTW look into a carb hat for your current BOV, something like a banjo fitting. It may even work... :1

no

jesus christ-

a maf measures the amount of oxygen metered into the intake. when a bov/diverter vents to atmosphere, it is releasing air that has already been measured by the maf for the combustion cycle- leaving your ecu with a rich condition after every vent to atmosphere/blow off, which will give you a bog after every shift/romp on the throttle. here's the ------- solution- get a diverter/recirc'ing BOV, and put it somewhere on your intake tube AFTER the maf sensor. maf's aren't rocket science to honda heads, they're just not used to them.

Move the Blowoff and put the Mass Air on the Pressure side.... (It's dirty, I know, but worked for me for over 3 years until I got a full stanalone)

Mine did that too..

Put it by the turbo so it vents before the Mass Air.
