Default missing link filter

My friend has a missing link and it doesn't have the filter. Its causing a vacum leak, and he needs to put something there, can he use foam or what ?

Its extremly small. Like the size of a pen head. It may not be a filter, but its pink styrafoam looking..

mine looks like this

on the other side theres a little hole for a filter

so yeah, you can just use a piece of sponge or something. i think piece of a cigarette filter would work well.
